WAIT!!! I don't understand that part where Ryuuko got slashed in two..... Would've Ryuuko died right there? According to Gravity cat. If two blades coming together, you can kill a stronger life fiber...
According to the episode, Ryuko was able to deflect one of the two blades slicing into her for long enough that it didn't finish it's job 100%. She then threw herself into the sea so that she could regenerate. Basically she tore the rest of her already mostly sliced up torso so that the blade couldn't finish it's job.
We don't see the life fiber because it is so small and it is similar to the episode where Satsuki sliced off Ragyo's head. We didn't see the life fiber until it was shown/explained to us by Ragyo.
[color=#006FFF]I feel like it would have been easier to understand if the anime had stated pretty much what you did, and what I was thinking, with it being pretty much the same situation as before when Satsuki attempted to decapitate Ragyo. She was literally hanging on by a thread and conjoined and healed while Satsuki acted as a distraction.
That being said, that moment of being cut in two did take me by surprise and part of me did think it might have been it, considering this is the end and this
is Trigger we're dealing with. Also, while I don't have the source, I've heard that the ending will apparently be bitter sweet? So I'm bracing myself for some sort of potential death to follow the tradition of the "Gainax ending" trope.
Also, I love Ragyo more and more with each episode. She's so wonderfully and deliciously evil.
