Oh no, this is terrible! It seems I have been reduced to starting threads on anime titles with not much ecchi fanservice. :(
On the bright side, Nagi no Asukara is an original anime title, not adapted from any video games, manga nor light novels. Hopefully, it will be able to carve a success for itself, even in the otaku society, where popularity means success.
Nagi no Asukara appears to fall under the romance genre, particularly between 2 childhood friends, Mukaido Manaka and Sakishima Hikari. Unfortunately for such titles, love is never smooth-sailing and I suspect obstacles will definitely stand in their way.
Nothing much has been posted on their official anime website, http://www.nagiasu.jp , apart from a preview video, as shown below, which caught my attention, perhaps due to the music.
My ecchi fanservice bear senses are not tingling again.
The visuals are impressive. Floating fish suggest it will be more than simple romance. I'll watch to see if the visuals will last the entire season
Ep 1:
Spoiler:
It might just be simple romance. The twist this time is more or less a racial divide between land and sea humans. If Hikari gets NTR-ed by the end of this it will be hilarious.
That fish thing on Manaka's knee was pretty fucked up. It looks like there's going to be some good drama later on. I can definitely see the "feels" coming.
It's certainly animated extremely well, but this anime doesn't appear to be up my alley from what I've seen. Our two lead characters aren't really all that great and the love polygon is already obvious from the first episode. Also, Akari is an idiot.

Pretty much. I may check another episode or two, but other than the great art and animation, I'm not as interested in the rest.
Not bad. The love polygon is pretty obvious but the gorgeous scenery makes up for it. The whole underwater aspect of this show still makes it interesting so I'll stick with it for now. Also the conflict between the people who live on land and the people who live in the sea mixes things up a bit.
The visuals are so good it makes the story better than it actually is. At some point I feel Nadeko's (Monogatari) rant to her classmates is what the main cast needs to hear.
Doesn't seem to be getting much love here in the forums, but I have to say, this is my favorite anime this season. This and Golden Time. Having just finished Servant X Service, I'm pretty happy with what I've gotten to watch.
Young love - been a while since I've last seen something like this that doesn't involve rays of light, thick smog and an overwhelming steam. There's a mystery behind their sea folk rule that keeps me interested in the series. Plus, Miuna and her friend is just too cute to leave behind XD
Good god, I lol'd hard at the Tsumugu portion of that chart.
Spoiler:
But yeah, go figure with the time skip routine. And moar drama as Hikari's back, but as his usual middle-school aged self. This'll get messy interesting...
the shit storm is getting worse. Since Miuna appears to be the new red sea slug, either Sayu or Manaka are going to experience something really bad and other something nice. I'm betting Sayu gets rejected by Kaname because he still uses "chan" with her and he can't see anything but Chisaki.
This anime has made some solid progress, and it's certainly impressed me so far. I hope the ending can uphold that feeling. Really looking forward to next week! o:
