Anime Reviews

Do you ever read or care about the opinions in anime reviews? I ask because I would like to review anime and manga, but not for fame or money. Instead I want to do it to help people find good anime that may have skipped over, or know what to expect from a title they are interested in. However, I don't want to waste my time if people don't care what someone else has to say.

So how much weight do you give anime reviews or do you even read them at all?

I never read anime reviews since you may like an anime while the reviews say it sucks. I discover them by myself like, i read the plot summary, watch the first episodes then make myself an opinion about it. And even if i don't like what i'm watching, i don't consider it a waste of time. I'm better off knowing the anime sucks than wondering all the time if i should watch it or not based on reviews.

I prefer to see it myself. I don't like anime spoiled...

If I can, I ask my friends irl or online what they've thought of it, and get opinions instead of spoilers.

I usually just watch than read a review. Actually, I've never read an anime review because that sounds completely idiotic to read a bias opinion on something you now nothing about.

I've written a couple for fun, but I avoid them myself as they tend to have a fair few spoilers. I just download series' that people here and around the internet seem to agree are decent.

The key to any kind of review is to find a reviewer whose tastes agree with yours. I sometimes write reviews in my free time, and I try to not spoil anything and try to be interesting without being too opinionated.

Synopsis is ussally all i need.

I honestly don't read anime reviews. I feel like they're not at all needed since different people have different tastes, and what works for some might not work for others. If I want to see an anime I'll usually pick it up because it looks or sounds interesting from the Synopsis.

I obviously check out blogs before and after an episode airs. It's just the way I operate. It's great to know the comments of the viewers.

There are tons of good animes out there but really, there isn't that much time. So I just pick a few good crops rather than harvest everything each season. XD

However, there are animes that have a gut-feeling-good. You just know it's good even though the reviews say otherwise. I think I've seen massive haters for the first ep of Angel Beats! but that didn't stop me from watching it.

Also, when I read reviews, I look at more than one on the same subject, and see which ones they label as Pros and Cons. If several reviews agree on some Cons, then it's probably a legitimate concern. Then I just weigh those cons against my own tastes to reach a decision.

I read them for the insight of others, but I don't take them seriously. I've read plenty of hateful reviews for anime that I've loved.

It depends, I tend to like reading comments if I'm watching it on youtube or a site that allows comments per episode, but as a general anime review, I'm not one to look for them.

I would say no to watching reviews previous to watching any anime.

When you're still in your first tens of animes, you probably won't be able to judge the anime the same way the (assuming it's a good) reviewer did. A reviewer is supposed to be someone with experience on the matter, that usually construes his reviews based on quality. And when you're still fairly new to it (less than 30 animes watched or so) you won't be able to make the same kind of judegment. Because you still can't tell what's good and what's bad, and will mostly make your judgements based on amateur opinions.

And in this case, reading the review can prove to be influential in a bad way. Say, you read a review saying Haruhi is the best thing ever (even though it's far from it). You then go and watch it with expectations of what you're gonna see is truly good, and thus throwing personal judgement out the window. This way you'll be deluding yourself. And thus probably bringing another weeaboo fanboy into this tasteless world.

Concluding, anime reviews, no thanks (i'm always up to discussing X anime in it's respective thread though).

but i just read the synopsis ..
because i want to know the story overall and is that can interest me ? worthy enough to watch ?

just believe my own opinion , for bad and good things ..

The only time I use anime review sites is when I'm looking for anime recommendations.

I do check out film reviews sometimes, if all for the sake of finding myself a decent movie to watch. Also, if I dont feel motivated enough to watch something, I run to reviews for that little push,if you know what I mean.
