Bilingually Raised people, can you stand dubs?

Personally, something about dubs never seemed right for me. It has this feeling of being off. The only dubbed show I can stand is G-Gundam for some reason, other then that, regardless of the voice actor, I cannot stand it. Perhaps it was because I grew up watching anime in Japanese. Was bilingually raised in America (My Grandmother would record anime in VHS tapes and would send it with tea leaves)

I wasn't bilingually raised nor am I bilingual, though I am studying Japanese, but I just want to express my hatred for most dubs. Like I've said in other threads about dubs: what's the point of watching an altered version of something instead of watching it as it was meant to be watched? How pointless. If you can't fully understand the language and there are subs available, watch it with subs. If you can't be bothered to read subs then you're an idiot. Original character voices happened for a reason - that is the voice of the character. Many things like jokes and meaning get lost in translation with dubs and it ends up being awkward, not to mention the horrid pronunciation of Japanese names. I don't watch Family Guy any more but imagine how shit that would be in Japanese. At least have the original voices on with subs.

I know the subject of the thread is more for bilingually raised people but I'm just answering for the "I'm not bilingual nor raised Bilingual" option.

Tri lingual. And no i don't care if it dub or sub or raw. It the voice and believability. I see shit dub, sub and raws which the same three were better for each one. The raw k-on were worse then the dubs. Scarily enough for me to say that hack of a show was better dubbed.

But the majority of dubs are still bad.

I can stand the dub in English and in Taglog if the dub was done right. Nowadays, Tagalog dub or Philippine dub is really atrocious compared to the great dubbers we have in the 90's. For English dubs for this decade, I have not yet sampled one so I cannot voice out my opinion yet.

I like the Desert Punk Dub. Also Tekken: The Motion Picture was okay. I'm Bilingual (Trilingual if Sign Language counts) going for Quintilingual (English, German, Japanese, Spanish and {{{Mystery Language}}}in that order). I wasn't raised Bilingual though.

Well I can watch some of them, and back in the day, most spanish anime dubs were great (most notably Dragon Ball, Ranma 1/2, Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon and some other anime that aired in Mexico around 90's)

When Toonami aired here in Mexico (during the years it did of course) the dubs of Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun were also great.

But lately there's been a decline in spanish dubs to many people, the only dub considered actually good as of now is Adventure Time's one (sorry if referring to a cartoon is a bit out of topic), since anime is declining as an entertainment to the eyes of many here so dubs of an anime are rare now (and there's also the fall of Locomotion, the only channel here that only transmitted anime, and the "rottening" of Animax, the successor of the former that eventually didn't aired anime anymore)

The only recent anime I have memory that has been dubbed in spanish was Saint Seiya The Lost Canvas, and it only aired during a Saint Seiya special.

In short words, yes, I can stand dubs, but there's not been so many of them in recent years, and many of the recent ones were not as good. So pretty much everything anime related here needs to be subbed.

The only dub I've ever appreciated was Full Metal Alchemist. That has some brilliant dub work. Pokémon isn't so bad, but some of the characters are pretty laughable.
