CANAAN ~428 The Animation~

So there's the last batch of promotional videos, as I wait for its first episode's raw subs. If you're wondering as to why I added them this late (as I did just now), let's just say that I've got my reasons... either way, anyone who's been eyeing this series could have already seen those days or even a week ago for all I know, just like I did.

Hated FSN and Tsukihime. Kara no Kyoukai was eye-candy, and I love it.
I'd like to say Canaan will be as good as Kara no Kyoukai, but I will have to hold back my comments until I at least watch the first episode.

Any word on exactly when it will be out?

Yes, you should have gotten the message just by reading my most recent post (a couple of posts above yours). In fact I already have seen it, raw of course. As far as my first impression goes, awesome! :D Here, the OP might be even more convincing than just my words. Raws are already available in your nearest torrent hosting sites (tokyotosho). :razz:

Mochi is doing Pandora Hearts, iirc, and the subs aren't that bad.

So, All over it.

Hard to believe sub groups aren't all jumping on this. I guess I should be thankful that there are some groups that are doing it.

CANAAN episode 1

I don't know what's going on, but CANAAN literally started off with a bang.

Quick question guys, (and for those who don't know, gg put out the subs for this), do I need to know anything about Type Moon games/shows before watching? I was going to start playing Fate/Stay night but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

So, is it cool for beginners to watch this or should I go elsewhere first?

From what I figured (watching it raw), most characters already know each other, and possibly even be related to one another. And if I'm not mistaken, the plot seems to be centered on revenge, with some complications though. Well, what the heck, I gotta hold off from watching it sub'd till later on (due to various reasons). All that I know of is that girls plus guns equates to "DEADLY" in my bible; something that's definitely right up my alley. :D

*I'm quite saddened by not hearing Maaya Sakamoto's voice as Alphard in the first ep... (all she ever did was hum...)


Seriously, there's no need to worry about such a thing. As far as I'm concerned, CANAAN and any other Type Moon creations for that matter have NO sort of connection to one another (story wise). You can most definitely watch this series and enjoy it regardless of how limited your T-M knowledge may be.

*take it from a guy who have seen the anime adaptations of Tsukihime, F/S Night, and Kara no Kyoukai... but without having played anything.

Quick impression on ep1.

Flashy and confusing.
The story holds a lot of potential and I'm kinda seeing a spiritual successor of Eden of the East here (not because of similarities but because it might provide us things to think about and put together).
While I definitely enjoyed the ep, the pacing and location jumping made it really hard to take a liking to any character (something I hope future episodes will easily fix). It also hardly felt like a Type-Moon related show at times but it was kinda to be expected since the relation is only based on a few people and the initial character designs and not the whole studio.

Anyways, I'm definitely sticking around for now.

With every anime there has to be at least one superpower.

Canaan has eagle vision! Man they really loaded down this first episode with a ton of plot for us to make sense out of. Definitely got me hooked.

Nice first episode, although a bit confusing at the start with many characters introduced in one ep. Definitely made me want to know more about the plot especially about the synth ability and the characters' backgrounds. Well the synth ability is the most interesting because it's quite abstract being able to see different colors and stuff. Can't wait to see how Nasu interprets and display this ability in the anime.
