This episode was awesome, but at the same time lame. I wanted a happy ending but it was time travel. The time travel kind of ruined the ending for me. Tho key made it so damn good that I didn't care about what makes sense and as drowned in my happiness.
I think you're missing the point.
Remember those few lines that talked about how if you loved the city you lived in as a big family, it would reciprocate and love you back. It's supposed to be a parallel to familial love. If you hate your family, there is no way they will be able to love you back in return, and as a result, you lose your family. This was what happened to Tomoya. He hated his father for disabling his arm, did not forgive him, hated the city, and as a result he lost everything.
I too am normally not a fan of "oh let's zip back to the beginning and totally change it all!" endings, but I
loved this one. It really highlights the joys of family, how awesome things are when you play the cards right. After all the torturous emotional pain they put us through in the previous episodes, it would crush me if they had something lame like Tomoya committing suicide, his last words being "I hate this city" or something. As for the validity of going back in time and having everything work out for the better, although it doesn't make sense and technically will never happen, I see it as representing the power of
miracles. That there is forgiveness in this world, that hope actually has the power to violate the laws of nature. There's also that semblance of the notion that good people deserve better than losing everything. Of course, dead people cannot be revived, but it's more symbolic than "it is a fact that if you make enough people happy you can do anything you want".
Gawd, the string of scenes showing how the lives of everyone turned out with the "maturified" Dango song was so damn awesome. And yeah, the Fuuko end sequence was a little too much for me; there is a limit to how much of something should be put in. I wanted more T+N+U too.

Speaking of Tomoyo. The first thing that came to my mind after seeing
this was -
'damn, she's got style till the very end' but the longer I think about it, the further she seems from getting a conclusion of any kind and is always shown like waiting for something. I know this is far-fetched like hell but maybe, just maybe they're thinking about animating Tomoyo After ?
Curious you bought this up, but Mycstea directed me to a
blog about a week ago: the blogger said that he had just received insider animation that
Tomoyo After would be adapted into a 60-minute movie by, guess who? Kyoani. They also said they'd animate Planetarian, another of Key's works, too, in a 30-minute episode. Of course, the veracity of this information is questionable, but it's still awesome news nonetheless.
