cupids day was originally an attempt to gain lelouch's attention / affection / whatever. you can see it by watching the scenes where milly didn't wear that relaxed and happy face of hers:
1. she secretly cried in the shower
2. shortly before she announced the start of the event, she got quite serious and then annouced that SHE WANTS LELOUCH
when she realized that she has lost to shirley, she claimed her event to be for shirley's and lelouch's sake to have an excuse.
besides sayoko said: "but you were quite serious isn't it?" and milly comfirmed secretly.
That's true. However, Shirley is now gone. And so, I look at this moment for Milly to finally stepup to the plate and directly tell Lelouch how she feels about him. After the Cupid's Day episode, I suspected that the only way for Milly to confess her love for Lelouch was for Shirley to die, in which she has.
I believe that the reason why she was crying in the shower scene was not because of what Nina had told her. But it was because she had learned that Lelouch was scheduled to date each of the 108 girls at Ashford Academy for the next 6 month. And that had upset her a get deal. Now that Sayoko knows that Milly is in love with Lelouch, she might be the one to tell him about Milly's secret love for him. Sayoko now knows that Lelouch is Zero.
While it is a long shot, I still believe that Milly will get Lelouch in the end. C.C. is out of the way, and perhaps Kallen. So it's still possible. Only the future episodes will tell if I am right or not.
In addition to Shirley's funneral, I suspect that Milly is very angery that Lelouch wasn't present to pay his last respects to her. Milly is going to want a very good explanation to why he didn't attend the funneral. And this time, she is not going to go away. We might just see another side of Milly's personality that could rival Kallen's own persona.
No doubt that Shirley's death has changed Milly Ashford. But it might have just made her more determine than ever to aggressively confront Lelouch with her feelings toward him. One way or another. She may not be a student at Ashford Academy anymore. But that doesn't mean that we won't see her again. We can at least count on that.
