Navarus is ridiculously and utterly... Foolish? Short sighted? Ignorant? Baseless pride/confidence?
-For a character who gives off the vibe "I prepare for every scenario with an additional back-up plan" he's always caught off guard.
-He puts his most dangerous subject, Neal, in charge of protecting the (seemingly) only thing he holds precious/important "Karne". In a position even higher than Setz even. For no, even remotely, clear reason.
-He does what in all the spare time that he has from making others work on his behalf?
-I would assume he put Setz up with Karne as a support for her, but damaged the boy to no end, what happiness was he supposed to be able to give her.
-It would have been an all around better choice to entrust both Setz and Karne to Angela, he obviously was not a good parent, and they are close enough to be working on such a huge cause together. Not as if he was doing anything anyone else couldn't, as well, Angela had better credentials to be able to handle Karne.
-What was the point of having Setz engaged to Karne...
-If Neal is important, why did he get on Neal's bad side, Neal adored him when he was young, or is the only skill Navarus knows "Submit by force"?
Setz had learn the importance of "communication" fairly early with lark, but with a couple of instances of Karne's rejections to talks he gave up.
-He occupies himself with everything but those around him.
-I understand the "please daddy", but he willing chooses to not try and grow beyond that.
-Waits for change instead of making it himselfs
Lark just wants to play the role of the fool.
-He knows his dreams are important/significant, but he disregards them entirely. With Bathory around, he could actively investigate them even.
-He knows Angela is doing something, but willing chooses not to get involve/learn of what it ultimately is.
-Also waits for things to "happen" instead of making an active effort. Despite all the serious events he witnesses. "Playing the role of the eternal spectator". Though he's better than Setz.
-Guess his excuse would be "I'm only human, I'm not like the rest, what can I do?"
-Though the only character I find to really show growth in a positive direction. (Him and maybe Angela).
Angela
-Lacks enough focus on Angela's present self. Theirs plenty of "This happened that happened, I felt this and that way, in the past" for her but I feel the story lacks a motherly perspective for her. Creator tries, but doesn't connect for me, the times when I feel that she should be seen as a carrying mother feel somewhat forced.
Karne
-Victim complex
-Short sighted, self absorbed
-If you want, you can excuse it on account of her "past", but she stepped out of the scene as this, there was never any evolution in a positive manner. She pretty much played the role of a martyr for Setz.
-Her only attempts to understand Setz was to figure out if he loved her, which she didn't even do well. "Does he love me, no he wouldn't, I'm so alone".
Sylvia
-I see as "A selfish child, to short sighted to even try and understand" her master. For someone who wants trust but fails to identify that someone who acts on emotions first is untrustworthy.
-Though this makes her quite human, which I find funny (Bathory makes fun of how amusing lark human tendencies are when other characters act incredibly human as well.)
-Plays the role of the easily lead-around-by-the-nose pawn, love how far her thought process go, she doesn't for a second doubt Gille, who Navarus states is his enemy to.
-She knows the console is playing with Navarus but thinks that they would let him go if Angela is dead..
Shadow lark Blood Chepesh...
-Very interesting, pretty much the build up I've been anticipating/waiting for.
-I would very much love to see Lark spiral down a path of despair, carnage, and chaos.
-Will annoy me to no end if he is being lead on to indiscriminately kill/destroy, I doubt Blood Chepesh told him the full truth, but if he doesn't target the right people I feel his rampage will come to an end sooner, which would be boring.
-Really want to see Lark more independent and proactive, this event is a perfect opportunity.
