I was kinda excited to see some Book of Fetus acting on its own and stuff. But that sure didn't do any good for me, but I was still content with the explanation to the murders in the end. Although it was kinda weird, until I realized Estella went through some kind of a harsh disciplinary method.
And once again, he protagonist readily accepts everything and uses magic like he's been doing it for a long while. *sigh*
Kinda felt bad that the clock tower broke at the end. >_>
I dunno why... just felt bad that something with so many bells and stuff, a wonderful clock tower, fell in the end. The protagonist should have thought of a better way to ring the bells within the tower.
The show's attempt at magic realism is laughable, at best. Giving cultural allusion to Canaanite religion also presents an air of pretentiousness, considering that it was done for the "cool" factor, and doesn't serve for much purpose other than it. It looks as though I'll be watching this for the same reason I watched GOSICK: the adorable heroine.
Oh yeah, this anime is so like Gosick. Books and mysteries everywhere but Huey has more balls than Kujo. It can get rather confusing at times, but that's me. In episode 2 I noticed the girl saying "I'm sorry" over and over again. Later on proven to be a murderer. Gee, I wonder what this reminds me of. [size=1]NONE OTHER THAN RENA RYUUGUU[/h].
The story book incantations do draw a lot of time from episodes though. I love to death how Huey isn't shocked about these magical happenings and isn't skeptical about it at all. At the end of episode 2 made me want to give Dalian a big hug. DAT WHIMPER.

I think I finally understand why I like this show soooooo much, it's because I love both of the main characters. Dantalian is cute, but not moe, she is strong willed but not a tsundere, and Huey is just awesome, he's a real gentlemen but he isn't perfect and has flaws, also unlike Kujo from Gosick he can actually hold his own in a fight.
Dalian showed more symptoms of tsundere nature, on this episode, or at least, that's how it seemed to me.
She reminded me of Victorique a lot to me, especially on this episode, usually it was because of her knowledge, but now, for loving sweet food as well. She clearly resembles Victorique.
I expected the wise inhuman kids to be the main villains of this episode, but it instead turned towards the Queen of the Night. I kinda wished they would show more of the wise kids. They were really interesting, and cool, lol.
In my opinion, the best episode of the series so far. YESU, verily. I have a very good feeling either someone new took over the script, or the writer increased his talents immensely, as the dialogue and the pacing in this episode was a wonderful change from the previous ones. This episode showcased a rather strong sense of logic in characters that is the root of the show (and what I've wanted to see more of) that conflicts quite nicely with the fantastical setting of the show. If the show keeps this up, I will be immensely happy.
Still, I have to admit, even though this show is obviously geared more towards bibliophiles' enjoyment (the pain of having a good story spoiled, reference to Journey to the West, etc), and I am one myself, I still don't find myself that much engaged with the show. At least, not as engaged as I am with Penguindrum, Steins;Gate, and Usagi Drop. But, I have hope!
seriously guys, I really like Flameberge's character. That episode was a really good introduction to that duo. Anybody noticed the difference of where the gate to the respective library of Flam and Dalian opens? One is from the heart and the other is from the womb. I wonder if this represents something.
YES YES YES, I've been waiting for the book burner and the professor to show up, this episode was great and I hope it continues on like this, also the three key holes for the libraries are on their chest(soul),stomach(body), and eye(mind) hmmmmmmm.
Well wasn't the show announced as 12 eps only D:? Oh and yoshii that's because of the two specials they Put in.
Alas I loved the anime but I believe they didn't put in much background work and rushed character advancement for a 12 ep anime by faltering and placing various fillers in place of actual connecting storyline.hopefully this will be resolved with a 2nd series.
I know I'm really late but I want to say my thoughts on the series as a whole. So I really really liked this show, sure it was kind of confusing at times, the characters wern't as fleshed out as they could have been, and it was way to short. But all of that can be forgiven because of the way it draws you in, also 2 of those problems can be solved with a second season, which if this doesn't get a second season I will have to kick an orphan child, but dispite all of it's flaws this was a very enjoyable show.
I wonder if the Necronomicon ex Mortis (from Evil Dead) is stored in the Archive of Dantalian.
The Manga is better than the Anime edition.
Huey and Dalian look so different and lame in the anime. That's not the Dalian I know in the manga and kinda reminds me of Hijiri Byakuren rather than Patchouli, Ayase Yue or Victorique. She's older in the anime. And Huey looks much younger and... I don't know. Compared to anime Huey, Justin Bieber looks like the sniper in TF2.
