I think I stopped reading this at around 34 mainly due to the slow releases but also because it seemed to have lost track of what it was about...twice. Also, I didn't understand why they couldn't all just do what that second ranking guy who drew with the Wretched Egg does and use their blood for whatever abilities they choose.
Anyway, ultimately I wanted to know if I should pick this up again or if it's still going downhill.

on the contrary it's going uphill. Since it's pretty much the climax of the whole series, with Ganta's past revealed.

All series go downhill in the story... that what make the bipolar turn straight up into the sky when the author finally stop writing to prolong the series.. ie bleach and naruto... which i still read because of habit... getting long winded with new arc and crappier enemies.
