When I first read through the preview image of the anime titles airing in Spring 2011, Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko did not catch my attention. Its storyline revolves around Niwa Makoto, who meets his female cousin, Touwa Erio, a self-proclaimed alien who ties a futon around herself (at least at the start of the series). How will life for Niwa Makoto change as he gets to know more about his cousin and that of aliens?
It was the beautiful artwork of a poster found within the latest issue of Megami magazine which made me curious about Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko. Personally, I have never been a fan of the science-fiction genre, but the beautiful artwork and animation could possibly change my mind.
Here are some images I managed to obtain from other sites, with the first image being the poster I mentioned earlier:
An interesting PV:
Not forgetting the official anime website:

Scheduled for airing on 14 Apr 2011, has Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko piqued the curiosity of anyone else?
First episode out and waiting. Darn, have to watch it tomorrow after classes. And like Kai stated, not all SHAFT productions are "dark" or "dark theme". They are just the animator studio for the stories, not the writers of the original work. They also do more light-hearted series with nearly the same style per animation. Check out Hidamari Sketch if you don't believe me...
I really like the art style, (and not just with the characters, but with the backgrounds. I noticed this a lot during the kitchen sequence). Meme was a lot of fun to watch, (with her teasing/completely ignoring Erio's existence).
I was also quite impressed with Erio's ability to function so well while wrapped up in a mattress, (and eat pizza nonetheless). I'm wondering if she'll stay out of it from now on, or if she'll go back into it from time to time. I also wonder if it was her idea to be in it in the first place.
Overall, I'm very curious as to what's going to happen next.
Very enjoyable, but I'll be completely honest and say that it was weird.
Spoiler:
My face throughout the entire episode.
Actually, I laughed a couple of times. I love the animation style, and these eccentric characters make me smile/what? The OP is easily the weirdest thing I've seen in a long time. Looking forward to the next episode, and more MOFU MOFU MOFU
Oh fuck, why are the women so adorable and stunning. The aunt is 39 damn it, her looks are criminal! Then we have our futon dazzling blue haired alien, with a huge overdose of her thighs and feet, TOO MUCH FOR ME TO HANDLE!
God damn I really liked this, I was a bit on the fence about the premise but the character's really pulled me in and like a lot of SHAFT's shows they will probably be it's driving force (not that it's a bad thing.)
Not sure if they're going for romance or comedy or maybe a mixture. Either way I really enjoyed it and can't wait for some more crazy Touwa Erio. I MEAN LOOK AT THOSE FUCKING LEGS
SHAFT is only responsible for the adaptation. Seriously people need to stop glorifying SHAFT for the story.
Praise them for their good animation. Not the Story.
Indeed. Shaft is like Kyoani, known for their adaptations, while anything they write in-house gets completely ignored (for good reason, I think).
Episode 1:
Spoiler:
I got to praise writer Iruma a bit here; I'm really liking Makoto's monologue. I'm loving the other two characters for their oddities as well, Meme's throw and Erio's pizza-eating. I do wish Meme had a different voice though. I kept thinking about how I should have been hearing Ami-chan~ instead of Kafuka.
