I wonder if anyone else has heard of this but apparently there going to release DBZ in japan in honor of the series 20th anniversey. What's new? Refreshed animation, completely rerecorded audio including new sound effects, but heres the big thing I like: there going to cut the series from 291 episodes down to 100. That means no more filler so it should more reflect the manga which moved at lightining face pace. Can't wait :D

For Example, no Otherworld tournament, or Driving lessons eps. Link: Dragonball Z Filler.
But yes, episodes will have to be condensed down drastically, in order to be 100 episodes [Though this is speculation at current], and keep to Akira Toriama's original Manga Vision.

Yes, I have heard about Dragonball Kai. It's suppose to be a revised version of Dragonball Z with the 16:9 widescreen. I also heard that it is not going to have any of the fillers in DBZ.

Thank god he is redoing this whole series with the original story from the manga,all those filler episodes were nothing but a waste of time.I'm definitely keeping my eye on for this one.

So I just got done watching and the first episode and I'm pleased to report that it is a Toriyama original cut! Basically this comprised footage from the original first 3 episodes and the TV special Bardock father of Goku, so their definently on there way to cutting down the filler.

All in all I thought it was a great ep, and I really liked the new op and ed. My only gripe is that after seeing how well animated the opening is, I now wish the whole series animated like that rather just re-cut. That aside I'm very excited to see how the rest of the series goes. It's been a long time since I've watched DBZ, and now I get to watch the way I always wanted it :D

I thought they were gonna do this like they did with part of the Dragon Ball saga. Completely remake it and make it shorter and more fast paced. No... they just cut crap out drew in some things here and there. Maybe they will re-animate future episodes... but I doubt it. I wonder where I put that DVD >_> I wanna watch it again.

God, this is so fucking awesome. I love DBZ, but I've hated the anime for the longest time because of the stupid shit that was added into the show and the fights that were stretched to insane lengths. (Five minutes until Namek explodes? More like five episodes.)

The first episode is already out. The first scene was really neat. Not going to spoil anything, but it has the scene how the Dragonball series started.
