End of Evangelion

After watching it for the nth time I've got to say that I found the movie to be a work of art and that I loved it for the complex notes, however I'm aware that I'm not the only opinion on here and I'd like your honest opinion on the movie and the series. I'm not touching on the rebuild of the series yet because after having watched it as a purist for the series I can't objectively weigh in on my opinion basing my opinion on it's own merit rather than comparing it to the original series.

I've watched the last 10 episodes around 4 times and I still don't understand what happened.
I'm a fairly intelligent individual, however it is too open and leaves too many questions in my opinion.

I'll type up an explanation later, it's just a pain in the ass to do on a swype keyboard and I don't have the half hour it'll probably take, but later I'll explain it all, it's really rather brilliant if I do say so myself.

I'm glad someone understands and appreciate the tone of the original series. I tried watching the remakes, but it just didn't feel right. Cheers to fellow Eva purists.

Evangelion was hard to understand if you didn't realise what you was looking for...personally I found the best trick was to think of the series like a set of jigsaw puzzles that got thrown on the ground and mixed up and you had to rummage through the pile finding the "Shinji" Puzzle, "Asuka" Puzzle, "Rei" Puzzle and so on, once i thought of it like that it made a bit more sense...shame I cant actually remember too well lol
