English in Japanese

Has anyone noticed that in some Japanese songs (not all) they add English into them? I had a small conversation with my japanese class and we couldn't really come up with a definite answer. Now none of us are actually japanese so we could only discuss from on side of the question, but i'm still curious. I'm guessing that there are some native Japanese on this forum at least somewhere, so maybe you could shed some light on this topic..

Also, note that is doesn't go the other way. English music doesn't usually pull snip-its from other languages. Also something to talk about.

how about French or Spanish words?

Hare Hare Yukai has some English words in it

some English words can be shorter than their Japanese equivalents, so they can used conveniently in songs

Almost all of Yuna Ito songs has more than a few words of english in them,more like the whole verse is in English and she says it well without accent.
One of her song Mahaloha even used some hawaiian words like Mahaloha.

Every Heart (not sure who it's by but it's from Inuyasha) was done in Japanese and English but the English version was just a jumbled mess. It was just a string of random words.

I've also heard some italian into japanese songs...weird, yea :p

You sure about that? English borrows words from other languages all the time.

Anyway, the Japanese treat english much in the same way english anime fans (particularly young ones) use "desu", "ne" and other such expressions ("That's so kawaii!!"). Hang around in an anime site and you'll see.

And its not just the japanese either. Chinese pop songs are peppered with english words ("oh baby" "love "I miss you" and other such words and phrases).

Its just an example of a language borrowing words from another. It just so happens that a _lot_ of people speak english.

Ali Project is hyper about French, and have a lot of songs and song names with heavy amounts of French, or so it seems.

Most likely the English words are added to just make the song...different. I have also heard what sounds to be almost Russian in some Japanese songs before as well...

Songs from NANA, borrows some English words, but she don't use them correctly. Its pretty cool when English words are in Japanese songs and other language because it appeal others.
