Even now, still raging.

For those of you who watched Yu Yu Hakusho, I always thought Toguro was awesome. Sensui was ok and cool with his Sacred Energy and all. But what I don't like was they said Toguro was the highest class of demon and turns out in the end to only be a B+ on the demon scale. That's the part that just rages. I just don't understand what the author was thinking naming Toguro the highest class of demon and just making him a B+.

That top picture has all the matchups wrong except for Yusuke and Elder Toguro.

And, much like my feeling for Rurouni Kenshin and the Makoto Shishio arc, I think that Yu Yu Hakusho could have ended perfectly well at the end of the Dark Tournament. It had sufficient build up, gave plenty of time for you to hate Toguro, all the characters had breakthroughs and got stronger, and it ended perfectly climatically.

Now, I haven't seen the rest of Yu Yu Hakusho past that very far, like I did for Kenshin (watched all of that, and I'm certain it should have ended with Shishio). So it's hard to say whether or not the end of the series was in fact more fitting or climactic, because, as I said, I haven't seen it. But I could see the series ending after the Dark Tournament, with Toguro in your mind as the baddest mofo around (Surpassed only, of course, by Yusuke), and it would be pretty good like that.

But my final verdict is: undecided. That's a pretty crappy verdict, actually...

I think they did that as a way to build up to stronger enemies later. If he was actually the highest then there's no room for upping the ante. It's saying "Look how powerful this guy is and he's still not even in the top tier."

And btw, Toguro is way cooler than Sensui could ever hope to be. :D

While that does make perfect sense, I won't dive into further conversation since it'll most likely spoil it for you. But Toguro did all these things which coincided with his past, reflected on Yusuke. If you noticed, dragging him into the dark tournament, taking someone close to him. etc. The same way that the demon Kairin did to Toguro.

I'd say class and level are two different things. Class is more of a description of the type of demon Toguro was turned into with is request. Level on the other hand is more dependant on your training, skill, and strength. Look at Kurama and Hiei at the start of the series they were around d rank I believe but toward the end they had risen to a high A rank through there training. Just because you are an elite type of demon doesn't mean that if you don't train as hard as someone else they won't surpass you.

Everything after the Dark Tournament kinda balled into one big ball of bleh. It makes you think that the fights after are still puny. The Toguro vs. Yusuke was the best one in the series.
