Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children?

I was thinking about watching this online, but before I do...

I haven't played FF7, nor do I know the story at all.

This being known, would it still be a good watch? Or do I need to know the FF7 story to fully enjoy it?

Of course you need the play it first to fully enjoy it.

I'm currently playing it right now, but it's such a drag. The graphics... and the controls are slighty weird.

They pretty much tell you what happened in like the first 10 minutes or so of the movie.
But yes, it's awesome.

FF7 is one of the greatest rpg ever made.

That said, I strongly advice you play it and then watch advent children. Once you get into the game it only takes less than a week to finish (only if you play until you drop)

Play FFCC while you're at it.

I recommend to play the game first if you really want to fully enjoy the movie. That said, the game isn't hard nor that long either, so you won't get frustrated over not being able to beat it.

Still, the movie is a great watch even without prior knowledge of the game. My friends who've never heard of FF watched it and were still thoroughly impressed.

I suggest to play the game, since by doing so, you won't be as confused to many of the references that are shown in the movie. Some being:

and then play Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus

to get the whole story.

so, in chronological order

Play Before Crisis -> Play Crisis Core -> In between the former Watch Last Order -> Play Final Fantasy 7 -> Watch Reminiscence of Final Fantasy VII -> watch Advent Children -> watch On the Way to a Smile -> Play Dirge of Cerberus

well, that's a mouthful..

It may be a mouthful, but its quite easy to accomplish, all that. I'll add that you wanna see the director's cut version of the AC, since it has an extended fight scene between certain 2 characters. When my friend got the BluRay DVD he told me about the extra stuff, then saw it, epic, just simply epic.

If you don't want to play the games, you could just read some spoilers online. Wikipedia usually has a lot of summaries for popular games like these. >_<

If your going to watch AC, Watch AC Complete. It is entirely better in every way possible. (Other than the fact its on blu ray).

Do you need story to enjoy pretty graphics and fight scenes? Because that's really all Advent Children has going for it.

I thought there was a novel or something called a Maiden's journey?It details Aerith's journey in the lifestream and such.

I did download it ahwhile ago but didnt got to read it before my com crashed.I will try post it here if I could get it again.

Its called The Maiden who Travels the Planet.Its a novel released in the FF7 ultimania guide book.Its set about halfway through the game,after you know what happens lol.

There are also short stories such as Case of denzel and Case of barrett.
