FMA Brotherhood= Aniplex being lazy and wanting more money

Sup Guys

I have been thinking about this for a while now and I have mixed feelings about FMA Brotherhood. I love the series theres no question of that but I heard that its essentially the same series just written more in line with the manga and my question is Isn't this just a way for Aniplex/Funimation to screw people over and take more of their money. I mean people spent their hard earned money buying the FMA dvd's or boxsets and Aniplex went and slapped them in the face by saying "Good now you can go buy this series which is the same as the one you just bought just done the way it should have been the first time.

I bet that they fully intended to make the original FMA the way it was so they could go back and say whoops we screwed up so you can go spend a few hundred dollars buying this version of FMA which is correct according to the manga. I am a fan of both versions don't get me wrong but why didn't they just produce the anime according to the manga. If I am getting some of my facts wrong then feel free to correct/enlighten me. This whole things justs screams at me that Aniplex wasn't serious about FMA the first time and now they supposedly are.

I will say one last time that I am not trashing FMA or FMA Brotherhood. I am a absolute fan and I love the series which is a work of art. I am simply criticizing how Aniplex has produced this series because it feels incredibly wrong to the fans. If the original straying away from the manga was something that happened unexpectedly then I give kudos to Aniplex for fixing their mistake and allowing fans of FMA to view the anime as it was meant to be viewed. I can't help but feel that any fan who sits down to watch FMA wonders why he is watching it when its not even correct according to the manga.

I welcome any opinions on this matter I just wanna find out what other people think about this.

I don't think this is a big deal considering the people who bought the first series did it by their own free will, they weren't forced to do this or anything. I don't think it using the excuse of "not knowing the first series wasn't the true one" counts, as if anyone who did some research into the manga would've noticed that both of them split apart fairly quick.

I'd say they're just making a product, and obviously there's a market for it since people enjoy it. As for as I know the purpose of a company, and how to keep it running after all, is to earn money. And there doing it buy producing a product which appeals to the market.

Okay, lets do some simple math:
According to wikipedia, the manga started on August 2001.
The original series aired October 4, 2003 – October 2, 2004.
With simple counting considering the monthly release period of manga, on 10/4/2004, there were about at most 26 chapters of manga, which is pretty much about the time when Elric brothers meet the original Greed.
Even if the anime got extremely slowpaced, this couldn't cover more than 20 episodes imho. More manga chapters were released during this airing period, even if we count next 12 chapters, it's nowhere near for some proper anime ending, so it's more or less logical that the ending had derived from original.
FMA: Brotherhood did quickly cover the material from manga used in the first season, and since there were about 90 chapters out when Brotherhood started, it gets logical again that animation is a good idea in terms of making money and the amount of material to animate.

I still don't see any reason someone would watch the original fullmetal alchemist when its the incorrect telling of the story after a certain point. I would feel extremely strange watching the original considering all that I know has happened in brotherhood and how the characters have changed and all the new characters I have seen added. I didn't see Ling or May Chan or Ling's guardians in the original. I would get all confused all over again. I'm a bit of an idiot so I apologize if I don't get simple things like this.

Doesn't really matter considering Brotherhood is being distributed for free.

It's not like the original FMA anime was the first show to go off from the source material.

Listen to wise Lamz0r, that's the basic reason why FMA deviated from the manga and made it's own ending.

You can always think of the new series as a different route in a VN where the plot line is different.
And if you are getting confused, i suggest insist that you read the manga asap.
It's best if you treat FMA-B as a totally new independent series. That way all your confusion will go *poof*

I appreciate all the opinions. I think I'm just gonna follow guru's advice and treat FMA Brotherhood as a new season or something like that. Either way I have absolutely fallen in love with both series and I will always be a FMA fan.

People watched the original series because it looked good. A lot of people don't care if anime series follow the manga they are based upon. And anime series are all about making money anyways. That's why the first anime series came out, to make money off of the popularity of the FMA manga. Brotherhood is a true treat because it aims to make money but also pleases fans of the FMA manga who only got to see filler stuff animated with the first series.

I guess they should have waited until there were more chapters out to make the first anime series, but if they had, FMA might not have become as popular as it has, and that could mean no anime series at all.

I do think the studio rushed into this without much thinking. It's nearly caught up to the manga, and not much deviation has been made. The actions of the studio do make us wonder if all they're really doing is milking the FMA cash-cow, of which I agree they are. But hey, I get my shit for free.

I like most everyone enjoy that I can watch FMA online for free but once the series comes out for sale in the US I will buy it when my income allows it. In a way VA's are just like singers they are being paid to use their vocal talent and so I always opt to support them and the series when my income allows me to. Having a boxset is nice because I don't have to wait for the video to stream and I can watch it on my 50" HDTV. Also while funimation is allowing FMA Brotherhood to stream off their website they will most likely only allow that until they are ready to start dubbing the series.

One, I don't make fun of your avatar guy who can't even spell Ichigo correctly and I honestly think he looks cool, I always imagined Ichigo as a captain after all the crap Soul Society forces him into. Second I was not suggesting anything in particular I was asking for an opinion on whether people think that the original FMA deviated from the manga on purpose so that Aniplex could make FMA Brotherhood and make more money which I think is a sneaky practice. I believe if you make an anime it should follow the story that the creator of the manga has written for it the first time around. Third, that is hardly a long post because I have seen posts much much much longer on here and you not wanting to read it fully just means you are lazy.

As far as the videos online I was saying that Funimation is only going to continue doing that up to the point where they start dubbing the series. They will then most likely take the videos down because they know no one is going to buy the dvd's or boxsets if they can watch the stuff online for free.

Then maybe you should read it instead of making blind assumptions and criticizing someones avatar.
