even though it's cliche, you can't talk about "overcoming" deep trauma, if you never had one. the usual "I can do better than-" comment is moot if you never had the same traumatic experience.
who was talking about me? I'm saying in the exact same situation, comics would have the male overcoming the situation while in this the woman instantly reverts back to fear and submission.
Was I the only one who hoped that she'd beat the crap out of Louis when she met up again? Holly was aggressive, challenging Bridgette verbally and physically only to wind up under his thumb. I can't see how you think this is good character development.
From the story, their relationship is what you kinda expect from "nobility" or families that have gained a certain esteemed status through business and what not.
In Satella's case, she was given apathy from who I would see as her stepmother.
Considering that the older sister was oblivious (maybe :o) and was busy as the current eldest of the siblings, and I have no idea about the father, Louis was the only one to, ironically, "care" about her and give her attention that no one would.
Chapter 44 proves that.
Trauma ingrained as a child runs deep, for woman OR man. And Satella did go through this as a confused girl in a house shaped by looks and grandeur.
This will be Satella's most excruciating test of overcoming her physical and mental trauma caused by Louis' twisted care. Cliche yes. But its a major part of the story.
