Full Metal Panic Season 4?

I believe Tokyopop has licensed the FMP! light novels and maybe the FMP! short story collections. Here are the current novels out there, and I'll categorize em' for easy reference and to the best of my knowledge:

FMP! first season (1-24 episodes) light novels:
1. Fighting Boy Meets Girl
2. One Night Stand
3. Into the Blue
These novels were never fan-translated to my knowledge.

FMP! second season Fumoffu (1-13 episodes): they are made up of short story collections of which few have been translated.

FMP! third season The Second Raid (1-13 episodes, not including OVA) light novels:
1. Ending Day by Day, Part 1
2. Ending Day by Day, Part 2
These novels have been fan-translated.

Next in the FMP! light novel series:
Dancing Very Merry Christmas (fan-translated)
Continuing On My Own (fan-translated, and is the last one to be translated I believe. Boku-tachi scanlation group stopped after FMP! was licensed I think. Some major plot twists and shit goes down in this novel.)
Burning One Man Force (fan-translation has halted... indefinitely. Done by a different scanlation group called RavynPhoenix. Up to chapter 3a, and chapter 1b download links are busts... which I wish I had, but I don't, not like it matters since the novel itself isn't done scanlated.)

... I think Shouji Gatou sensei might come out with a couple more FMP! light novels. Unfortunately, Tokyopop is mad slow with the English novel releases and their site is unavigatable. Fuck!!! I want my FMP! novels translated badly!

Agreed. On a second note, I think a fourth season(maybe a 5th) would be awesome. Should be a mix of some comedy and drama like TSR was.
And hopefully it would be 20+ episodes instead of 13. Then it should end with an obvious ending...

I would still prefer a harem style ending for the FMP series, but I think we all know that probly ain't gwyne be happnin.

It would be great if they did a season 4. :) Though I didn't really care much about TSR. >_>


I noticed that at first and passed it off as coincidence and couldnt help but look again. XD L on a bike, Light with (I think that's his father) as Misa is watching. XD

The biggest problem I had with TSR was the fact that they squeezed it all into 13 eps. They should have spanned it over 24-26 eps and fleshed things out a bit. I mean we hardly ever saw Tessa's oniichan in that entire segment, and he was supposed to be a fairly important character. They have to put out more seasonz of it, if only to elaborate on black tech and the whispered.

No, I thought the 13 episode length was perfect. The season in my eyes did not seem rushed at all, and they definitely took time to draw out and portray Sousuke's mental breakdown.

Agreed, and it was executed perfectly. The sympathy didn't even feel forced.

Seeing as I'm the biggest FMP! fanboy I know (want proof I own all three season on DVD, all manga volumes of FMP! and FMP! Overload, all three licensed light novels, I'm up to date with scans of FMP! Sigma, and I have on my hard drive "End of Day by Day" through what was translated of "Burning One Man Force.", not to mention my mithril key chain and wallet 8) .) I'll weight in on this this. Obviously another season or two would be awesome and there's certainly more than enough material for it. There's still plenty of short stories and and novel wise there's still "Dancing Very Merry Christmas" through "Approaching Nick Of Time" and that's still not the last one. But we gotta remember that Kyoto animation studios does FMP! also handles Haruhi and Lucky Star. So my guess is that they'll pump some more stuff for those since they rake in the money. So I'm doubting a 4th season since its all ready been three years since TSR. :cry:

You know, I would kill someone to get more seasons of FMP! in, and I'd doubly kill for someone to fucking scanlate the rest of the FMP! light novels...... I feel like I'm going through FMP! withdrawal.

Trust me dude I want to believe but I'm realist so I know it won't happen for at least another year but that like I said its doubtful.

you are right about that! Fumoffu is a spin off... I think they're already starting the project about the 3rd season...

Technically, Fumoffu was part of the main storyline. It was just the hilariously funny side that was cut into its own set of episodes.

FMP, Second Raid, and Fumoffu are each 1/3 of the actual storyline, which can be found in its full form in the manga version. :P

FMP Sigma manga is still ongoing, but i dont think there is enough material to shoot full 24 ep season yet.

No. Fumoffu was never part of the main storyline. Fumoffu was nothing but the compilation of many short stories featured in the Gekkan Dragon Magazine, and they are not required to read to know the full FMP! storyline. They're sidestories, or omakes of sorts.

As I mentioned before in a earlier post, the origins of FMP! and true canon are the light novels that Shoji Gatoh wrote. I've never read the three novels that highlight the first season of FMP!, but I remember the chapter names of the three novels, and in comparison I think the first season covers 80%+ of the material. I would also have to say that FMP! TSR covers 95%+ of the material covered in the next two novels "Ending Day By Day," of which I have read the scanlated version.

Yes I would love to see season 4 because of what happens to Kaname in the light novels and Kyoto is good at making us go OMG so I will keep hoping because as Sousuke says "It's Not A Problem"

Last novel will be published in feb09.. I doubt there will be next season of anime before that, but after.. who knows.
