Why aren't you happy knowing that facts that:
1. you're the protagonist
2. you have a chance to get deeply involved romantically with a character you like.

Because it is like watching your best friends or siblings have sex. Even if they are attractive people, it isn't something you really want to see. Also, sometimes sex scenes ruin things. Which is why, as someone pointed out, fan hentai ect. is okay because it doesn't ruin a story's plot or direction (direction as in how the director portrays the story).
But I suppose your question is more about why not enjoy eroge adaptation just because you like the characters? It is seriously because of the sex scenes, mindless-sex-a-thon or not. I just couldn't enjoy seeing my favorite characters in a canon sex scene that was as graphic as a regular eroge/VN.
Plus with your second point, you don't need to have sex in the game to get a deep romantic story.
