[General] What's the most important aspect of an anime?

I chose other because I feel like watching different anime. After awhile, I want something with a deep story line, then I feel like watching a "Filler" anime (one which I can take my sweet time to watch and I don't feel a need to see what happens next), and finally, I want my fill of dirty perverted/harem/smut etc anime. One that will make me laugh and is is slapstick and full of tits.

Characters are number one for me. I can enjoy an anime with a crappy story (or no story) if I like the characters. However, if I don't like the characters, I'll have an incredibly hard time liking the anime. Good animation is nice, but the only time it's ever made a difference for me was with Redline. I do pay attention to soundtrack as well, but I'm not going to stop watching just because it's bad.

A bad plot can pass is the characters are lovable.
The movie Ponyo is an okay example, not Miyazaki's best work but the main characters were lovable.

You may think me shallow for this but I like good animations. I guess the simple fact that goes along with that is my most watched anime are action and ecchi heavy. I still enjoy the occasional Durarara or Death Note and the like.

If you've seen my watching list, you'll notice that I watch more than 15 titles each season, and not all of them are story-driven. I honestly don't like limiting myself to just one or two "qualities". I love watching animes, and animes comes in different "shapes" and "sizes".
For example:
Most people "avoid" Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon because of the confusing world, on the contrary I love Horizon for the same reason. By tackling the confusion head on, I learned that it's an awesome anime (and most people in Japan, looking at the Pre-Order rankings.. lol)
