My sister likes Hanamaru Kindergarten.
My younger brother likes things like Naruto and DBZ.
The other slightly older, but still younger than me brother pretty much copies everything I like, so anything I like that he sees me watching, he'll try to pick up or whatever. |:
I have cousins who can almost be considered an otaku, but not there yet. I can discuss anime and manga with them , but I can't discuss the "hardcore" ones, like Panty&Stocking or Sora no Otoshimono, and less likely about hentai :3
Also, I would like to say that, in Fakku, there is a dude who has a wife who actually buys him rare hentai from time to time.
Brother doesn't watch anime anymore and when he did it was naruto. Cousins on my mom's side some of them I know watch that shit too. My uncle last i knew watched some old school anime like slam dunk but that was years ago.
one of my brothers likes anything dragonball, naruto, inuyasha, that stuff.
one of my other brothers watched saikano with me and liked it. (though he still calls chise "cheesy" just to irk me, lol)
my three nephews used to adore naruto.
my two nieces liked bottle fairy~
the rest of my family is like 'wtf no let's go do drugs son.'
I forced my parents and my brother to watch all the Miyazaki movies with me, and they loved it, but a part from my brother, who's younger, my parents won't look at anime by themselves.
And my brother likes FMA, Death Note and some others. He's in a rasta-reggae phase right now, so all he cares about is music, joints and revolution lol.
@anime_freak : about your daughter, those are the best movies a kid can see as a child, along with the disney classics :D
My older brother (who got me into anime) does, he doesn't really like the newer anime though, after 90s he says that most of them are shit. But he still does watch some with his new girlfriend (if you're reading this I know you're just pussy-whipped to do it!) and liked atleast a few series I think =p
Mod Note: Moved to the General Discussion section.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Getting back on topic, I would think most (not all) female siblings would find something they like in the shoujo genre, regardless of whether it is manga or anime. Male siblings, on the other hand, might prefer titles falling under the action category and perhaps that of fanservice.
In addition, any title which is cute and contains comedy usually appeals to both gender.
Several of my cousins like anime. But they don't have cable TV, or neighbors with one, so they watch the anime that gets shown on local TV channels, which is the equivalent of "that sucks, we get the scraps"... they get to "enjoy" multiple exhaustive re-runs of old anime (Doraemon, for one). Sometimes, these stations get some dough to invest in good anime with a bit of recency, like One Piece and Pokemon's later anime seasons. Just rarely.
Thankfully last year one rebranded local TV station invested in real recent anime, so local kids can enjoy K-On! and Code Geass. My younger cousins got to watch them and last time I visited they were happily watching that station's afternoon anime lineup.
