Guin Saga-Episode 1

Well guess I should start on posting a topic on Guin Saga. Hopefully there are people watching this anime. Hopefully...

First of all there's already a sub for episode one by Aniyoshi. I can understand why the subs are pretty slow for this anime since they are trying make sure some of the terms in the anime is translated properly.

It starts with the city of Parros is under attack by the Mongaul army. The twins Rinda and Remus are taken away to escape using a teleportation devices. Something goes wrong with the devices and they are teleported into a forest they call Roodwood there they accidentaly awaken Guin who wreaks havoc upon the Mongaul soldiers that were chasing them. The first episode starts of as a pretty basic for a fantasy genre considering the story is adapted from a novel that is released in 1979 its quite understandable. The story line is pretty solid and the animation is nicely done though I think another of Satelight anime Basquash! are much more better than Guin Saga.

My favourite part is the awakening of Guin by the light reflected by Rinda's dagger, it was pretty nice to watch and continued by Guin destroying the Mongaul's squad.

A couple things to note:
1. the CG rendering looked horrible. OK, subpar.
2. the prince is a fucking whiny baby who's scared of everything, always calling, "Nee-san, nee-san!" Grow up!
3. the city has a magic shuttle? wtf? I felt that that was somewhat out of element in the story.
4. Guin. Words that describes him: pure win, unbelievably strong, total pwnage.

Other than that, I didn't think it was bad. I'm looking for an explanation of the setting though, something I think that the first episode didn't give us.

I agree, they could do more with the cg or better avoid using cg at all. About the brother, from what I heard his character will grow up a little and the other reasoning behind his weak attitude is because of his lifestyle being taken care of everything else and all, also his at a young age where he is still growing and then we have Rinda as a counter character to Remus weak character. As you can see from this episode even Guin in some why ask/ordered the children to fight in some way I hope will affect the growth of the twins.

I guess the 'Magic Shuttle' or the technology in this anime world would be explained later or we might have to read the novel. Since its in fantasy setting I guess its acceptable.

Yes, Guin is so awesome. Good thing he won't be wearing that skimpy outfit for long looking at the ED. Oh yeah the ED is beautiful.

The first episode was good, and I felt that it was paced the same way as the novel was. Watching Guin roar was kind of cheesy, but it doesn't look like he'll be doing that very often. Next episode is where it should pick up a bit.
