Is it just me or

is the new era of manga.. just plain.. plain? where the good story line, good art, fuck good anything. Don't get me wrong their been great shit, but not like the 90's and early 200o's stuff. is it just nostalgia or is the newer stuff just crap?

im just going to list some current stuff i like:

I can't say I've liked much from recent years, actually.

The only series I follow and purchase is Yotsuba&!, so that's my one exception.

You'd exposed to all of the recent stuff. In the old days, only the better stuff ever made it overseas through vhs fansubbing. I like to call the explosion of anime into more a mainstream business in the US "the great wave of shit"

Whelp. It's getting harder to find originality in both art work and story.

Well cause most of us have already read the old stuff that defined the good shit.

Now the only thing you might as well have going for the manga community is the non-hentai doujins. But then again it is gunna be hard to sort particularly thousands of stories (literally) that deserve to be translated and shown.

Well, most good ones are becoming rare. I mean its hard to think of a plot that is different from the rest. Most good plots are being reused into originals.

Looking at your list, it's just you. The current Generation isn't bad just because it doesn't have the genre's or stories that you like. It's just that the current Generation makes more genre's or stories that "you don't like", and that's where you got the feeling that the Old Generation was better.

The reason why some people likes these new mangas is because they're just plain out strange or Original.
-Medaka Box -> Over the Top abnormals
-The World God Only Knows -> Applying dating simulation to real life
-Mysterious girlfriend X -> A bond of Saliva.
-Bakuman -> A Manga about the Manga industry
-Boku wa Tomodachi Sukkunai -> A Club about making friends

I notice a slight difference between older shows and newer ones, but usually its just nostalgia that clouds my judgment. For instance, I think Evangelion is the best anime series I ever watched, but if I saw Gurren Lagann first, then that would be the best series I ever watched. Its just a factor of emotional attachment that makes me say Evangelion > TTGL.

You list Genshiken as new; it ran from 2002 to 2006 (except for the new one).
Yet you list Pluto as old; it ran from 2003 to 2009.

I'm not sure how you're defining "new" and "old." A difference of ten years isn't that big, especially since the really popular series can run for the better half of a decade, if not over a decade.

For example, you can't say that Beelzebub is new and that Naruto is old and compare the two as being from different eras. It'd be better to compare Beelzebub to Dragon Ball, that sort of thing.
