It's a new anime coming this fall (October to be more specific), and I'm pretty interested in it.
Wiki wrote...
The story revolves around Natsuru Senou, a normal high school boy. One day he wakes up to find himself turned into a girl. A stuffed tiger, Harakiri Tora, comes to life and tells him to fight as a female psychic fighter "Kämpfer". Having no idea about what's going on, Natsuru is involved in the battles against other female Kämpfer.
Kämpfer is a German word meaning "fighter".
It's kinda cool since it's like a crossover of Ranma 1/2 and Sekirei. I'm more in preference of light novel anime adaptations since light novel writers tend to prefer storylines more than possible visual outputs.
Some of the light novel and manga covers
The anime look of Kampfer... somewhat cute as well :)
I'm also amused by some of the deft storyline parts. I mean, like if you're the guy and you can transform as a girl who is considered among the top three beauties at your campus, I can't imagine how uncomfortable it is to be in Natsurou Senou's shoes. :)
And since Toshihiko Tsukiji did this (he's the one who wrote Maburaho, which is one of the harem-types I liked), I expect nothing less than a romantic comedy. And this time, with some field battles added.
Oh, if anybody wants to read the story beforehand, OneManga has 5 chapters up for the manga adaptation for Kampfer, right here.
EDIT 09/26/2009: Here's a promo video :)
The trailer is here, thanks to TwilightEngel for the heads-up ^_^
EDIT 01/02/2011: For the 2-episode continuation of Kampfer, entitled "Kampfer für die Liebe", here's the website and promo video. Thanks to Hentanize, TwilightEngel and kagamini for this marvelous update, seems work takes me off my rocker a bit.
Although the Manga seems to go from walking around to wondering WTF is going on to Action within one chapter. I'm wondering how that will reflect on the anime.
Yet another title I am intending to watch for the Autumn 2009 season.
With a gender-switching character as the main protagonist, one can expect lots of laughter in Kampfer, not to mention ecchi fanservice scenes. However, I am not too sure how the battles will fare since it does not really seem like the type of show which falls under the "action" category.
I believe more information will be made available over the next few weeks, but for now, we can take a look at the various female character designs, as seen at the following website:

Yes, indeed. To be honest, I really have no idea how the anime will parlay the fighting between the Kampfers, since the manga version did little justice to it. Maybe it'll be the same as Sekirei portrayed their fighting style. It'll be funny though how the guy switches gender and getting used to it.
But I'm already sure of the fanservice though. Maybe I'm getting used to seeing more fanservice in current anime right now :)
I too am also looking forward to this series... the blue haired girl looks like Kurumu (rosario + vampire)... there are tons more of upcomming anime but this one really poked my attention...
Well, just got done watching the first episode. It was..interesting, to say the least. It definitely had a lot of classic elements of ecchi series, but with the added bonus of gender swap this time around.
Honestly i cant wait to to see it! I loved the Manga!!
Speaking of Manga i have noticed that Every Manga I happened to read over the Summer Ended up having an Anime Adaption Coming out for it in the Fall! it was like:
"yeah, i finished the Manga...*one week after finishing Manga*...wtf an anime version is coming out this fall!? WOOT"
I just watched it, and it was like "Whoa" to me... yep, agreed with g-money, it did feel sort of like Kashimashi. Pretty good one to kickstart my anime series' watching this fall.
Watched the first ep and was surprised I liked it so much. It's delightfully ecchi, and I do not care about the main character being a trap. She is still damn hawt - can't compare to the student council chick though.
Well, the fighting scenes, while not epic, they are still enjoyable - when clothes are getting ripped off, I'm not focusing on the fight.
Definitely a series I'm going to keep watching, just hope it won't be a short one.
Just watched the first episode, and I have to say, I'm enjoying this more than I thought I would. The OP reminds me of the NEEDLESS ED due to a certain shot.
