Yeah it was funny. But still the one thing that bothers me the most is that in the magic world people still think "Are they making a movie"? or not do anything at all and pass it off as normal safe shit going around.

Yewah i thought the exact same thing, i think the mangaka forgot what world they were in.

You must remember the Negi and his party are composed of people with a scary amount of power.

Even in a world where magic is the norm, for one, not everyone is a magi, and for two, there are very few people as powerful as Negi and co.

Even in a world of Magi, it's pretty safe to assume that in an era of peace there should not exist people of Negi's/Fate's class, and so fairly logical to assume that those awesome explosions were done with the help of effects.

Even though what you say makes sense (somewhat) i still think people were overreacting way too much, it gave the impression that they never seen anything like magic before.

In their terms those are high ancient magic that only really experienced magicians could use (i'm guessing 90% of those "magician" are still in the middle) Such as negi's DeosTeucos (axe of zues) and Fate's Pillars of hades. Thus it's rather normal that they would be surprised and amazed.
