it's drama, so it's ok... I like clannad btw. made me cry.

the main character need to be interesting

If its a guy-Cool headed, does not show off, independent, thinker, funny, can come out with interesting quotes and not so girly looking...

If its a girl-Kinda chaotic kind of attitude, happy-go-lucky type of person, have tendency to show off, independent, clever, funny.
