Manga debate to the death: Black and White or Color

So it occurs to me. I like a good full color manga, but something about the original black and white or in some scans gray and white is just visually appealing. I guess it's the tradition over time of seeing manga in solely monochrome form. It made me wonder. What's better for you Fakku? Black and White or color?

I'd like color but most of them are in black and white though. I've only seen some fully color though but, I'd pick color.

I've seen a few colored mangas, and while they're cool and all, it makes me just want to go and watch and anime of it. Plus, aren't they more expensive and shorter than your average B/L manga?

I'm all for Black and White. That way i can look forward to the special colour pages that mangakas make for special issues/events/anneversaries.

Also full colour manga is bound to take much more time to draw = slower releases.

It's not that BnW is spoiling the image quality, Yagi Norihiro (Claymore mangaka) has shown that BnW can be as awesome (if not more) as colour~

Though this opinion may be biased, as I'm a huuuuge fan of monochrome photographs.

Well then a follow up question. Do you enjoy reading the colorized manga by itself, let's say without considering release dates or other such factors, just the art and color?

I Prefer a Good Detailed Black n white over full color any day

Colored art is fine but id like it better on the anime ver. since its gets better details and since it doesnt feel that much of a manga if every chapter is colored, dont know bout others but maybe im just too used to the black and white format of a manga.

That will depend on the original art itself.

If the style is like Adachi Mitsuru's or Rumiko's I'd definitely go for a coloured version. (She claims using water colour even to his day!)
I guess, Fullmetal Alchemist will look great in colour too.

But if it's arts like these I'd hate to see them in colour.

I'm on the fence with Seo Kouji's and Fumizuki Kou's work :/

A lot of mainstream shonen genre Naruto, Bleach, One Piece etc will look good in colour.

Also too many colours are an eyesore, it's not a comic... manga drawing style is totally different.
Anything coloured well in 3-4 shades will be brilliant i guess, for the more serious storylines.

Also by colour I DEFINITELY mean by the original mangaka/artist not a fan coloured version. Those, no matter how good they are never work out for me, looks too artificial.

Some mangas look good in color, but some don't. I enjoy seeing colored pages of One Piece. But darker mangas like Gantz are just so much better in black and white.

Black and white adds to the air of a manga. Mangas like Gantz and Claymore are just better in black and white because it's suppose to be like that. It's dark and moody, so b&w suits it better.

I usually prefer the look of black and white (with tones) over the full color. It has this special charm to it. Definetely prefer that.

Black and White 'cause Coloured ones always look horrible in my opinion.

I guess out of preference I would chose Black and White, as Kuro said there's a special charm that I just can't put my finger on. Possibly because I'm more used to seeing black and white mangas than colored. Although I have seen some mangas that blow black and white out of the water...vice versa.

All the color manga I've ever seen were harder to read then the black and white ones.

I prefer black & white manga anytime. It has a special appeal to me, and it's easier to the eyes when reading unlike the full-colored ones. It's an art form in itself how mangakas use black and white in their works to effectively portray scenes or images even without using other colors. (yep, just like Claymore).

Besides, full-color mangas are harder to produce.

I prefer black and white manga than colour one since I can make use my imaginary power to the fullest without colour restriction.

But for any of you to know "I don't like black and white anime"

I think it depends on the manga. Some manga just looks better in black and white while others benifit from color, but I do like the way that Afro Samurai has everything in black and white except the blood. That's classic badass right there.
