But then it just seems like the author is pulling shit out of his ass despite knowing the fans reaction towards something like that. Sure it's unpredictable and the author gets that satisfaction of fulfilling that, but it still isn't wise to upset the masses just to quench one little itch, especially AFTER the fact. I mean, you wouldn't tell a black joke in Oakland when you're the only getting the satisfaction of your humor.
Eh, I wasn't happy about Hinata showing up in the battle at all. It seemed like too typical a thing to do, too generic for a series that has a history of not being generic. The moment she showed up, everyone knew that she would either be killed by Pain, and that would be typical because Kishimoto's been killing off so many characters lately, or she would survive Pain's attack, and it'd be too predictable. The only way to escape that would be to have Hinata survive but then die. Well, I suppose if she was seriously wounded and had to stop being a ninja, that'd work, too, but I highly doubt that will happen.
I can understand needing a way to make Naruto go crazy and unleash more tails, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy with the way it happened. And there may not have been a better way than having Hinata show up, but it still reeks of stereotypical shonen crap, especially since Hinata lives.
All that aside, I'm really looking forward to the next couple of chapters. What I'm not looking forward to are the chapters that come out a month or so from now, where Naruto will undoubtedly talk to a wounded Hinata about how she loves him and saved him and all that. I'd prefer a giant funeral with Hinata as one of the many corpses and Naruto silently crying and training harder.
