It's a good thing Kishimoto didn't over-dramatize the deaths of the Konoha ninjas. Some good points we can take from the slaughtering: death is ugly, uncool, just like that. Stab, *blargh*, you die.
I do like realistic deaths, but Hinata's death in this chapter (if she did indeed die) wasn't realistic, it was just lame. She's hidden behind a rock, and Pain stabs her? Why not show him stab her, from Pain's perspective?
Of course, it's possible that Pain didn't kill her, and the rock was hiding her so the truth wouldn't be revealed (to Naruto or to the reader).
Something smells fishy here, that's for sure. Pain "kills" Hinata before Naruto's eyes, then seems pleased that Naruto goes six-tails, after explaining his mission and ideals. I've seen that sort of shit before, and it's usually done when the villain
wants to lose or something stupid like that. Maybe Pain wants Naruto to join his cause? That'd be uber-lame.
Pain should know that Naruto's feelings greatly affect his strength, and he should have known that killing the girl who loved Naruto, right before Naruto's eyes, would make Naruto go nuts and become powerful. I could understand Pain being arrogant if he had all his bodies, but he's done to one body, and he had Naruto right where he wanted him. If he had just thrown Hinata aside, Naruto wouldn't have gone nuts, and Pain could have just taken him away.
But maybe I'm thinking too much. Something just seems off.
