Are Anime DVDs extremely quiet for you?
With almost every Anime DVD I have, the sound is so quiet that I have to crank up the volume just to make out what they're saying, and then I get bitched at for my TV being too loud, but if I turn it down even a bit I won't be able to hear a thing. Maybe my TV's just old, I don't know.
Anyone else have this issue?

and that's why I love my headphones; you can put the volume as loud as you want, and you won't bother anyone. Win/win imo =)

If you play it in mpc irrc you can boost the audio. Loses some quality but it makes it alot louder.

What are you playing it through, a DVD player, PS2 or something else? I don't think it'd be the TV or else everything would be quiet.

I have the same problem, but with all DVDs, not just anime DVDs. It's a bitch, but what can you do?

I think it's probably your DVD player. Also, the encoding for the anime DVDs that you have might not be great either; being anime DVDs e-e;

It's definetly the PS2. Mine also has extremely low volume on movies. It's absurd. DVD player my ass, it's as good as nothing (and it's not the only problem it has. It doesn't recognize alot of dvds too). You're better off watching it on a computer.
Edit: Also, my PS2 used to lag alot in movies. Anyone ever had this problem?

It may well be the cable that links the PS2 to your TV. I have an RGB and that has two audio cables that I can plug into my surround sound. Maybe the default PS2 cable is shit for DVD volume... Then again, you'd think we'd hear more about it if that was the case. Is it just anime DVDs and if so, are the DVDs all in the same series or released by the same company?

I have that for some DVDs as well. Invader Zim, for example. Very quiet, can't get it loud enough even with my TV volume cranked. Thank god I have a stereo which has enough headroom for that.

Yeah, I had to watch a few movies on my PS2 once when my DVD player broke. It was dark times... dark times.
