IMHO, I would also suggest Satoko's death in Higurashi

I was just awe-stricken by just how "intimate" Rip's death was. Nothin fancy really i thought, Never seen anything like it. Reminded me of the inevitable ending of Death Note.

I guess i started seeing a pattern between animes I liked vs loved based on tasteful death sequences. But it looses the whole meaning if the lead-up never held my intrest. But the ones they spring on you suddenly and make me spit my beverage all over... Thats just entertainment! lol

A few of the deaths/suicides in Higurashi Rei are rather creative, if only in the respect that the blood splatter patterns form pretty shapes on the walls and floors.

at the moment the one that made me cringe was in Higurashi when Rika commits suicide. That was pretty fucking brutal. I also might develop a fear of umbrellas thanks the the umbrella death in Another. That was fucked up

Probably not exceptionally gory but surely creative, some deaths from Gundam SEED:

It wasn't necessarily brutal or creative, but I felt very moved by Lucy's suicide in Elfen Lied. The entire show is such a short but totally psychotic ride through her broken consciousness... It was like a bittersweet, sad kind of redemption. I mean, she's the protagonist so you like her at least a little...

It was a very beautiful unhappy ending, in my opinion.

Same with me. This was the first time a anime/manga series really stuck to me after seeing it. Lucy was such a tragic character throughout the series you had to feel for her in some way.

I have to go with this one, someboday in that studio knows how to roll out weird stuff.
