One Piece- Will Luffy ever get romantically involved?

Hi

I was watching One Piece and it just struck me that we haven't really seen anyone that Luffy had a particular romantic interest in. I know Hancock has the major hots for him but she doesn't strike me as a good choice since she is a Shichibukai so she can't become openly involved with him since she would lose her Shichibukai status and Amazon Lily would be prone to attacks by the marines. Although I can't see them having an easy time against all those freakishly strong women. Nami or Robin are possible candidates but neither have shown much out-right affection for Luffy. However, Luffy saved Nami from Arlong's rule and he saved Robin from being executed by the marines at Enies Lobby. It only makes sense that Nami or Robin would have feelings for Luffy after he went to such drastic measures in both respective events.

Luffy also wants to become the pirate king so it's only fitting that he have a female companion. I'm sure Gol D Roger must have had a woman by his side either before or when he became the Pirate King.

So, any opinions?

That's what every one piece reader would love to see.

I kinda doubt it as things are now. Pretty sure Oda said there wouldn't be any romance. After the timeskip though, I suppose anything is possible...

Yea, I guess that does make sense. Now that I think about it, having Luffy in a romantic entanglement would take away from the action of the series and One Piece is an action/adventure anime. Also Luffy prizes all of his nakama equally so him being in a relationship with Nami or Robin would most likely result in Luffy placing their importance above the others.

Besides, Luffy is such an idiot that I doubt he would know how to proceed anyway. I guess that's just one of the things that fans have to rely on the hentai manga's for, insubstantial as they may be. I downloaded some of the one piece manga's but they didn't have much story or anything, just mindless sex really.

I'm not sure if Luffy is too simple-minded to ever get romantically involved with anyone to he honest... I mean, I feel that it's possible, just not very likely.

Oh yes, I forgot one key quote Oda once said in an SBS:

"They're in love with adventure."

Getting back on topic, I read somewhere that the mangaka of One Piece wants to focus on Luffy being a pirate and thus the romance aspect has been set aside.

Another being that, if I recollect correctly, I remember reading that Oda has mentioned in the past that none of the Straw-hats will ever be romantically involved with anyone.

And personally, I would not like to see it happen. I don't want any of them to have a love interest of any kind, whatsoever.

I wish man, but you forget that One Piece is Shonen so I mean any relationship isn't gonna go beyond elementary school anyway.

Oda predicted this and being totally sweet was like "I'm not gonna have that preschool romance in my manga" so we will never have a romance in One Piece.

They had sex in Suzuka, which is shounen

On topic, I agree with most of the post already made. Luffy's naturally aloof, so even if there is any romantic involvement with him and a well-endowed powerful woman, he'd just burn a hole through them and act as if there isn't anything going on. It's much better off this way, really.

Might happen at the end of the series, could be he ends up like gold roger you know? you see him getting lead away to be executed then it flashes to who he had his kid with e.g. hancock, nami etc and Coby is told to raise it by Luffy.

never.. he will always be like that.. it's one of the storytelling trick to keep people eager about it..
