Negima is one of the most popular manga in that magazine. The only reason for him ending it like this will be due to health issues. I doubt we'll be seeing a part 2 or another work from Akamatsu-sensei for a while. I hope he gets back into the scene though.
If it's for health reasons then he should put it on hiatus or something. Or perhaps if he gets better he can write new canon that displaces what happened in the last 10 chapters.
Or he's probably taking a break, running out of ideas, and/or learning how to not overwork like Yoshihiro Togashi.
Remember that long hiatus with HxH? I do.
But there are so many major and minor points that have been developed and unanswered.
Like wtf happened to Negi finding his father(mind you this is the basis for the whole story) and what is up with Ako's scar.
IMO, it feels like the ending was kinda rushed ever since the Invasion of Twilight Palace and this whole "terraforming mars" thing.
Actually it felt rushed after the whole Magic World Arc. It like went straight from love comedy to tragedy all too soon. That time would've been perfect for a little more side fun, as also in explaining in great detail, visually, ending the MotB's cycle of life and the goal of why his father was the new body.
The terraforming was already explained, but lacked sufficient time in the manga, thus our 100 year time arc. I do believe Ken may be running out of ideas to keep the story going, as I've also heard people complain about ending the series.
On their opinion, I might agree with them, but since there's a whole lot things unexplained, I disagree entirely.
