Proof me wrong(Pokemon)

Remember how at some point Ash decided to change his entire costume? Well wasn't his overall outfit symbolic in some way? I mean I remember Ash's hat was won from a pokemon competition of some sort. Doesn't his change of costume destroy the purpose?

Yeah, he should definitely wear the same kind of clothes for the rest of his miserable life.

I've seen a lot of people complain about Ash ditching his hat, which was so precious to him. There was even an episode where he went through hell to get his hat back, I believe. But the fact is, it doesn't really matter. Continuity isn't exactly the Pokemon series' strong suit.

Ash changes outfits to match the different games, to make him look more like the protagonists from them, and so he'll fit the updated animation.

The only thing that bugged me was his hat. He had to send a million postcards to get that hat and then he ditches it.

Sleeveless hoodies are lame Ash. But at least it doesn't look like his mom dressed him anymore.

Yeah, i noticed that. after not watching it for a year or so i heard 4kids sold pokemon or somrthing like that and before i knew it, New costume and new voice. i was like wow... way to kill my childhood guys.

Dood I still have ash's hat from the first few seasons. Just need ta dig it out. And yes it was iconic with that strange mark. The new one is kinda meh...

It's not 4kids that changes the costume, it's Japan. Remember, Pokemon is an anime. The new voice actors suck though. Seriously.

Yeah, I remember that one. It's when Primeape stole his hat. I even remember him saying it's his favourite hat. I can't believe he just dropped it like that.

My only continuity issues with Pokemon are:

How the hell can Pikachu be beaten at this point? He's only gotten stronger since the first season, where he was what, like, GOD of lightning? Ash pulls him out nowadays and he's like "Hit'em with Iron Tail!" to which I tell my nephew to shut up for a second so I can listen to why that attack fails this time.

And where the hell is Misty? I get bros over hoes, but Jesus Ash, it's just starting to look bad on your part. The dude walks around all day with his goddamn eyes closed, and I could've sworn back in season one he mentions a bunch of siblings that he's apparently abandoned because Ash punked him in their final gym battle.

I would make some attempt to say that it's my nephew that watches the show, but there are times when I tune in when I feel like a good facepalm and some childhood memories.

The concept of leveling doesn't exist in the Pokemon anime.



Misty is a Gym Leader. She has a gym to run. She can't follow Ash and co. forever, you know.

He won the hat in what was essentially a random drawing. So it doesn't really have any symbolism attached to it. Also, why Houen outfit and not Sinnoh? TR needs new outfits, although considering the number of their disguises, it probably is irrelevant in the end.


Just be glad Pikachu no longer pulls bullshit like defeating Ground Pokemon with Electric attacks. Thank you, Iron Tail! (I would like to see more Quick Attack though. Seriously, it has been used like once so far in Sinnoh.) Other than that, it's just a matter of twisting things so Pikachu doesn't Mary Sue his opponents into the dirt.


Remember, his father came back, so they weren't really abandoned. Also, at some point, Brock's mother who-is-actually-not-dead-4Kids-just-fucked-it-up also returns.


Not really. I mean, I want Veronica Taylor, Rachael Lillis, and Eric Stuart back as much as anybody, but the new ones aren't so bad (now anyway). They were really awful back in Battle Frontier though. Brock couldn't emote at all and Meowth wound up sounding way too much like Prof. Nanba.

Even without leveling, Pikachu has lost a lot of power from being able to cut metal apart with his Lightning Bolt in the third Gym. I know, he was super-charged, but that can only make up so much of the power level. As for Misty, she has an anime-social obligation to have tense, slightly off romantic moments with Ash, if not for him beating her, then for the fact that Dawn doesn't have the ass that Ash looks for in his women.



I didn't remember that at all, honestly, though now that you mention it, it sounds like something I've heard.

Misty has an anime-social obligation to show up once in a while just like May. Dawn has now been given the social obligation to be overly-friendly-so-let-us-just-say-that-they-are-in-love-lolfandom.

You want Continuity in Pokemon? You may as well ask for less epic potato chip eating in Death Note.

Yes, Ash sent in a million postcards to win his original hat and went through hell in several episodes to keep it just to ditch it for some random shit his mom gave him.

And Yes, Pikachu somehow is unable to beat weak ass opponent pokemon that Ash's Chimchar made look weak. But this is because Ash's pokemon work on a nega-level system, the longer he keeps them the weaker they get with the exception of when they evolve, the only exception to this rule is Charizard because it's fucken Charizard.

I suspect that by the time Ash reaches the next land after Sinnoh, his Pikachu will be too weak to beat a water or flying pokemon.

I gave up on Pokemon after Johto League. Couldn't be bothered to keep up with such a half-assed series and shit that followed after the first (true) season.

And we all know Pikachu is the strongest thing on Earth... reaching haxx0r power levels with each passing season.
