As we draw closer to the winter season of 2010/2011, I believe it might be apt for a Gambler to start a topic on the anime entitled "Rio -Rainbow Gate-". Read on and you will soon discover the reasons for saying so.
According to what I have read from several sources, the main protagonist, Rio, is supposedly a character who stars in several pachinko games. Due to her popularity, she now gets her own anime series, although I am not sure if it will be a hit with fans outside of Japan.
Undoubtedly, it was the fanservice which caught my attention, but after viewing the trailer, which strongly indicates that a major part of the storyline revolves around casinos, my curiosity is further heightened. Apart from Rio, who appears in croupier outfit, other elements of gambling in casinos can be observed - rich patrons and bunny girls alike. Will Rio give Kaiji a run for his money?
Without further ado, a trailer for the above-mentioned title:
And not forgetting a link to the official anime website:

Hopefully, Rio Rainbow Gate will turn out just fine or maybe even exceed expectations.
When I first saw this, I couldn't believe it. Imagine if Camel Joe Cool got an anime or the Michelin man... this girl is on the side of pachinko machines that you have to be 20 years old to play. First, she isn't a well known character for people under 20 in my guesstimation. Second, she is a mascot for pachinko machines.
The idea sounds like it could be interesting - honestly the only things I can remember about casinos in anime were the episodes in Space Cowboy and the first episode of season two of Code Geass - both of which were great. So I hope they do something great like that. However, from my point of view I am slightly worried that this might be a corporate promotion for pachinko parlors. As cynical as that sounds...
I will end with what gambler said:

This looks like it could be okay, I'm not usually one for zealous amounts of fanservice. And though I do share neko-chan's sentiment about whether or not this will end up being a promotion for pachinko parlours, I haven't watched any anime or read any manga that are specific to a casino setting.
I'm not going to set my expectations very high for this anime so I can have room to be pleasantly surprised and at least the doujins will be filled with girls in sexy outfits.
Just got done watching the first episode. I thought that it was pretty fun, (which was to be expected for a gambling series).
Spoiler:
Mint is pretty adorable, and we got a good view of the casino due to her running around. Rio is also very adorable/sexy, and I'm digging all of the cosplay outfits. Her ability of calming the battlefield was also neat, and hopefully we'll see the origins of that eventually.
So yeah...this is probably my guilty pleasure series for the season as well.
Watched episode 1. I honestly don't know if it's too crazy or not crazy enough, although it might be that it just can't shake it's pachinko origins. Having come off watching Motto ToLoveRu, Rio doesn't show enough fan-service and doesn't have a personality that appeals to me.

That's their big problem - making a personality out of a character from a pachinko game.
Episode 1 was a, you know, kind of average (probably watered down by the fact I watched the last episode of Shiki before that). But hopefully things get interesting in episode 2.

I saw the first episode. I'm really hoping there's more to the ecchi-ness than what has been seen, otherwise I don't think they have a strong enough story to keep me. I crave tits and ass!
Saw it because I like her in DOA Paradise and a Hellabunna doujin. The anime was pretty meh. Average fanservice, average gambling, average animation. Overall it was pretty good but not memorable. Sad because her dealer uniform is hot and I expected more from this.
This is better than I thought it would be. It's not amazing since there doesn't seem to be a plot (yet), but the fanservice is nice enough.
What Rio's ability actually is, is nagging at my mind. I hope that they actually explain it. The part where they mention her being just like her mother caught my attention as well.
