Run Out of Anime?

Every now and then, I've heard people complain about not having enough anime to watch. (It seems like a lot of people watch as many currently-airing series as they can to remedy this, watching shitty shows because there's nothing else.) But I don't understand it. There's always some series that you haven't already seen. Right?

I'm not watching anything recent because I've got my hands full on other things. And once I finish what I'm watching now, I still have other series I want to check out. I have a list of stuff to watch, and it'd take me months to go through them all, and during that time, new series would be added. It seems limitless. So how can some people run out of stuff to watch?

The only reason I can think of is that they are too discriminating. Maybe they won't watch anything made before 1990 because they don't like the art, or they won't watch anything slightly mainstream because it's too popular. But those are lame excuses.

Still, since this is a common phenomenon, I have to seriously wonder if I'm just weird. Am I too accepting, willing to watch just about anything, so long as it's good or entertaining? Not that that's a problem, but it might be abnormal, different from how the majority of people are.

So, do you ever have times where you have nothing to watch? Do you eagerly await the beginning of a new anime season solely so you can have something to watch? If so, why? Aren't there a ton of series that you haven't seen? After all, no one can watch everything.

I will give any anime the chance to surprise me (yes even the mainstream shounen I hate so much). I'm actually as we speak re-watching One Piece, since the only time I ever watched it was as a kid with the shitty 4kids dub. So no you're not weird you just have a wide range of taste and are willing to give any anime a try, which I applaud. I hate those fans who will buy every Naruto (yes I'm bringing up Naruto again) volume without hesitation, yet won't give the time of day to stuff like Clannad (yes I'm also bringing up Clannad again) because they are too busy trying to master all of the hand motions to the super special new technique that was in the latest volume. Okay rant over, but really the anime community needs more people willing to give more shows a chance, remember I said I was watching One Piece, well after all these years it still holds up, so I can say that I do like at least one of the mainstream shounens. Also I hate it when people say a show sucks and they never even watched it (I have watched a good chunk of Naruto and Bleach, so I can safely say that I dislike them). Anyway sorry for the long reply...

Nope, never. This season alone I'm watching 24 series. Doesn't matter if it's bad or good. If I find it interesting and doesn't bore me I'll watch it.

Yes, there are many titles that I haven't watched. I've only watched 785 tiles (688 completed), and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

What I'm trying to say is that I don't like it when people don't give a show a chance because it's different, if they watch it and don't like it, fine at least they tried. I just don't like it when it's more like "this show is a piece of shit" "really, did you actually watch it?" "NO WAY, WHY WOULD I WANT TO DO THAT"-_-. If you want to watch Naruto, fine whatever, just try a little diversity now and then. And unless it's relevant I'm gonna stop bringing up Naruto, all it's really gotten me is crap so far.

What im trying to tell you is that your painfully obvious Naruto bias is hurting your credibility more than you know, especially since the people you're referring to is a minority group of retarded fanboys rather than the whole fanbase.

Okay I see where you're coming from, let's all just agree to disagree, everyone watch what you want to watch and we can all discuses it's good and bad points and we can all live in harmony or something. The reason that I hate Naruto so much is when I was a bit younger I was a HUGE Naruto fan, and that got me bullied a lot so now I reject it and act like I hate it, when really it's the reason I really like anime now so I can't complete hate it, Naruto is just kind of the poster child for mindless shounen that don't have much of a story structure. Also Klown WOOP WOOP nuff said.

Well since I helped throw us off topic how about a non trolling response. I sometimes dread a new season, heck I'm already behind on this season (mostly because of this site), and I have a bunch of stuff on my watching list and a ton of other stuff on my want to watch list that I feel like I will never get to. So I think I'm pretty set with stuff to watch for quite some time now.

They're usually the ones asking for recommendations.

Yeah, my to-watch list right now is in the 100s, and I have a bunch more on hold, so I have plenty to watch.

I never run out of anime to watch. You're 100% correct. Running out of anime to watch is kind of like being in the state of boredom. It only ran out because you chose it to run out. When I "ran out of anime" to watch a while back, I decided to try new genres, and I discovered Ghost in a Shell, Welcome to NHK, 5 CM per second, Serei no Moribito, and a number of other good anime that I'm glad I tried. For some reason though, I find it hard or really troublesome to go back and search through an index of thousands of anime to search through some good ones. Maybe cause I feel like I'm on top of things of anime by watching the latest series or keeping up to date. But honestly, I never run out anymore. Just spending a bit of my time looking through some past gems.

I run out of anime to buy a lot nothing I want ever comes out often enough I reckon there is like as much time as a year a part.

For online there isn't really a problem but I'm normally a one show at time kind of guy. I won't switch to an other show till I finish the show I'm on and if I was really getting into a show and I haven't finished it and the show isn't available I take 2-4 weeks to start to watch a different show cause it is all I'm thinking about.

If i "run out" of anime I just start going down animehere's list and pick which ones have interesting names.

Someone seems picky as hell if they say that they don't have enough animus to watch.

Besides people requesting new series to watch (like Kaimax referenced), imageboards. Granted, I shouldn't take anything said on any -chan seriously, but I'm sure there are some people out there that are being truthful when they say they watch current seasons because they, in their minds, don't have anything else to watch.

Running out of anime? Phooey! No such thing! In fact, there's too much to see! My "to watch" list has perhaps 300+ series, not to mention the newer ones coming out each season. SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK.

Out of anime to watch? You can NEVER run out of anime to watch! Try these steps:

1. Watch anything new that comes out. Usually won't matter if it's good or bad.
2. When you start to think you've run out of titles to watch, find a title that's mostly considered mediocre at best (READ: blegh!), and go through that, regardless of how painful it is.
3. When you've gone through every "bad" series you can think of, there will probably be some new anime out by then. If you don't want that, revisit, yes RE-visit, some greats and classics in anime. After having waded through all the shit, the good ones will probably seem a lot better.
4. Repeat 1-3 for as long as necessary.
5. ???
6. PROFIT! (uhhh...ENJOYMENT?)

For there, I don't ever run out of animes to watch, there are more and more no matter how many I watch. I have a ton of animes to watch even now.

I dunno about anyone else, but I haven't fallen into a situation where I didn't have any animes to watch, rather, I fell into a situation where I couldn't decide which anime I'd watch next.
