Sadness, Loneliness due to Anime

Have you ever felt sad or lonely after finishing an anime series?

Rather than make me feel any emotion in particular, finishing an anime usually gives me a slight, yet insignificant, sense of accomplishment or leaves me wanting a bit more. That's not to say I've never been a bit disappointed with the way a series ended though.

Certain series can make me feel a bit disappointed, not because of the fact that they ended, but because of how they ended. Samurai Champloo was a pretty good example. The very ending of the show (less than twenty seconds before credits roll in) is the type of thing that makes you wonder... "What could have been..?" I'd get into depth and detail, but I rather not spoil it for those who might be interested.

What about you? I'd guess you have, since you are curious about it.

I have before. Especially when I become emotionally attached to a characters in a romance anime. Heh.

Ok I'll be more specific. Romantic animes, where the characters were engaging and you truly felt for them.

Such as... Clannad?

I did. I felt sad. Eureka Seven when Renton tried to save the Vodarak child in episodes 20 something. I it was emotional and I cried a bit.

Well I did feel sad on 2 points throughout the After Story of Clannad. But I don't really feel sad or lonely for any series' conclusion.

If you feel lonely after watching anime, I suggest some therapy my friend.

Though sadness is understandable... Clannad made me cry a river while TTGL made me cry manly tears.

I always get that weird feeling once a show ends. It can't be described as sadness, nor can it be described as loneliness. Maybe it's because I feel that I want more, but I have to deny it because I know the show has to end that way.

Clannad was such an emotional story that it was hard to see it end. But it's a good thing that they made a few After Story's.

Even things that weren't emotional, such as Code Geass, still make me feel awkward.

Slice of life shows are fun. It feels even weird with those because you can always go on. Slice of life can't end because it just normal life, like Lucky Star or K-ON!. Sure the plot is about getting through life and that's not much of a plot, but it makes you want more.

However, all journeys must come to an end.

I know it's a joke, but I've never seen the series. So being manly is a main theme?

TTGL is full of GAR = manliness.

Animation and sound I suppose, but I'd argue the plot and characters were overly generic, but to each is their own, and that sounds like a thread on its own. Probably one that shouldn't be created anyway assuming not everyone can control their TTGL fanboy or anti-fanboyism. XD

oh ya all the time
but most of the time i get pissed off because a lot of manga's and anime's end with giant cliff hangers like.....um the elfen lied anime or....i think it was eurica seven, i nearly lost it on that ending. so much sadness and anger
