The map in naruto isn't just the fire country.. it encompasses many different countries. Even if they didn't have any significance in the stories' plot until now, he should have mentioned their existence earlier on. There were many different opportunities to introduce them into the series, which is basically the only thing that bothers me.

It shows the location of the countries previously encountered/mentioned and shows the reader where they lie, the Iron Country is probably one of the unnamed piece of land, or, the map only shows the ninja countries, take your pick.

Having mentioned the "Land of Iron" previous to the latest chapter wouldn't have made any diffrence what-so-ever in terms of...anything, except for the fact that we would've already have heard of it.

It's not really unusual for manga's, and fiction in general, to reveal something for the first time only when the plot is ready for it.

Even though im not all too familiar with the Ninja Gaiden series what wiki describes here is pretty much what any genin/chunnin is able to do.
Bringing in high tier Naruverse characters like Pain or Hachibi would be a ungodly stomp.

The fact that the old kage said that the ninja lands don't mess with the Land of Iron has to mean that the samurai are damn good fighters.

Kinda made me think WTF at first. They all look generic and don't look different from each other (following the rules of typical shonen, it means they're cannon fodder especially if they aren't given names) and will probably get eaten by the ninjas, unless the author introduces some samurais in the next chapter.

Hellz no. Ryu has skin tight clothing. Totally makes him superior. Just kidding. Played the games, and I don't see anything that really makes him superior. He's pretty bad ass, but he's probably only able to take on a weak Jonin at the most.
