Based on a manga that was written by Fuyumi Ono (who also wrote the original novel "Ghost Hunt") and was drawn by Ryu Fujisaki.
The story revolves around an isolated mountain village, steeped in ancient traditions, whose population of 1,300 starts dying in droves due to mysterious causes. Eventually, it becomes clear that vampires are attacking the town.
(During a fiercely hot summer in Sotoba, a peaceful and quiet village with a population of 1300 people, a series of bizarre deaths begin to occur. At the same time, a strange family moves into a long abandoned mansion in the region. Hospital dean Toshio Ozaki cannot figure out the cause of death in the deceased, initially suspecting an epidemic. As investigations continue between the hospital staff and the residents, it turns out that the village is being attacked by vampires.)
I really had other plans but if I didn't know this place any better -- where the moeblobs are most openly accepted (just because they are, "moe") -- I think this one's got a much decent fighting chance (of being talked about) than "OokiFuri 2" or "Giant Killing" (screw "Major S6").
The news about it getting an anime adaptation couldn't have come at a much better time (after Umineko turned out to be one giant piece of shit!), though the actual product would likely not be up for until mid (summer) to late (fall) next year. There's no actual anime footage yet.
Hey, I'm not into your so-called "moeblobs", Hermit. Also, Major is good, though I have no idea where they're going to go with the 6th season.
The artwork reminds me CLAMP, especially that one guy that looks like a young Lelouche. The trailer, though, reminds me of Ghost Hound, which was an allright anime. Since this anime is done by the same author who gave us Ghost Hunt, this series should be good too.
Hermit, will it kill you to find the song? Because there's a person that just because starved for it after your amazing info + video.
I haven't looked into it yet and quite frankly, I really don't feel like searching for any song that I don't even know the title. That or you could say I'm just being unhelpfully lazy.
@Hermit: since the Major anime strictly follows the manga, go balk at the manga, not the anime. It's still a great series IMO. (but enough off-topicness.)
I just finished watching the first episode of Shiki, and I was pretty impressed. I wasn't sure what to make of this series from the trailers, but I loved how the story unfolded. The animation, (especially the opening theme), was fresh, trippy, and colorful, and it definitely kept my attention.
Spoiler:
Megumi's story his close to home for me, because I was in a small town for quite a bit of my life, and I hated it at times. I laughed when she had the fantasy of being over a rich family's house. However, I must admit that she was a bit bratty, with ignoring everyone else in the village, except for Yuuki. Speaking of him, I wonder why he moved all the way out to their village? Maybe it's because he had a premonition of something horrible happening and he had to stop it? Guess I'll find out eventually.
Spoiler:
Also, I was very surprised that they found Megumi alive. I was almost sure that she was a goner from the beginning of the episode. It's interesting that her demise was met by being anemic...which definitely points to the blond-haired woman that Kaori met. Although I'm not sure that Megumi is totally out of the picture. She just may be a pawn for the vampires to use...
As for the other characters...both Toshio and Seishin seem interesting, but I'll need to see more of them to generate a proper analysis.
Anyways, I'll keep watching this as well, and I'm eagerly awaiting this mystery to be unraveled!
its only natural for them to be slow and suspenseful, then when its revealed its going to seem more dramatic AND it will probably speed up quit a lot once the secret is out.

Mm. That is definitely true and I can't wait to find out more.
Hey guys, don't know if anyone noticed but for a split second you can see Pedobear in episode 1. They even have him peeking out from behind an object like you normally see him. it's the scene near the middle when one of the local kids comes up and it centers to a picture of the newspaper he's holding.
