Should I watch the Kanon anime or play the VN?

Kanon is supposed to be a pretty good VN, but I'm wondering if the anime covers all the good parts of it. Watching an anime series takes less time than playing a VN, so if the anime is good enough I'd rather watch it. Am I missing out on anything if I watch the anime instead of playing the VN?

If I had to choose between playing the VN or watching the 2006 version of the anime, I would definitely choose the anime. It is one of my all-time favorite titles and is the only anime other than Clannad that was able to make my eyes well up.

Well the anime basically is a the different routes together and finished minus the sex, he does end up with my least favorite girl but it does make seense story-wise.
Basically I'd say play the game first go through all the routes. You'll know whats happening in the anime but it'll be more enjoyable seeing how trhe pieced it together.

if you decide to watch both anime series, watch the old one first, after watching the new one, the old series just pales in comparison.

I would say watch anime if you really don't feel confident you can handle a VN game.

And on topic: I'd say play the game, and then watch the anime. I watched the anime when the 2006 Remake came out, and played the game about half a year ago (Getting my hands on the game was actually the reason to why I joined the forums) and the VN is just so much better.

I actually watched the original before 2006 and I gotta say that 2006 is WAY better and it's even longer!
Of course, you can't forget the VN that started it all, so you should also play it.
Besides, you get to end with all of the girls individually instead of just one of them in the anime =]

Well, I'd like to do both, but I only have so much free time. I could always go back and do the other later though. So, if I had to watch just one, which should I go with?
And I'd watch the more recent Kanon anime, because Kyon's voice actor is awesome.
