Plot Summary: Kyoko has devoted her life to Shotaro. When Shotaro came to Tokyo to debut as a singer, she followed him and worked to provide for him. But one day, Kyoko overhears Shota telling his manager that Kyoko means nothing to him. She's just convenient, a housekeeper. This makes Kyoko furious, and she vows revenge on Shotaro. But Shotaro just laughs at her, saying she won't be able to touch him because he's now a popular singer and she's a nobody. So Kyoko decides to get into showbiz and become even more popular than Shotaro to humiliate him.
Opening.
I'm just now starting this series after finishing Itazura na Kiss. I haven't seen the first episode yet, but this Anime looks very promising. :D
@TheOtaku: You have some catching up to do after Itazura na Kiss. Skip Beat already has a second opening and ending theme. :D
I believe the manga of Skip Beat is drawn and written in such a way that it caters to the female audience. However, its anime counterpart seems to be targeting the male population too, though I am unable to say how successful the strategy is. Anyway, it should be working to a certain extent, since there are a few of us watching the series. :D
In any case, I kinda like Moko-san, though Yashiro and Maria rank equally highly in my book.
Friend actually recommended the manga to me and I liked it, and when I first heard about an anime adaptation I was pleased, but then I actually saw it.....I ok with the story, there sticking with the manga, and that pleases me, so the animation won't bug me that much, i just wish I could see this go further, the current point in the manga is what i'd like to see animated but, meh, I am still enjoying this series nano desu.
so i half assedly (half-ass-ed-ly) went through this section and didnt find skip beat so ill make it! ^^
anyhow....good anime. heres a basic run down:
Skip-Beat! is about Kyoko Mogami, a wistful yet cheery sixteen year-old girl who loves her childhood friend, Shotaro, but is cruelly betrayed and thus seeks revenge against him. She used to spend a lot of time at Shotaro's parents' inn and learned a lot about housekeeping, hostelry, and other jobs (sewing, cooking, serving tea traditionally, etc.). Shotaro, not wishing to take over his parents' inn, becomes bored of living in Kyoto and decides to move to Tokyo to pursue a career in music. Sho, as he is called by his fans, asks Kyoko to leave high school in Kyoto Prefecture and her life behind to help him. Upon arrival in Tokyo, Kyoko lives an unreasonably frugal life, spending nothing on herself and doing whatever she can for the freeloading Sho, who eventually becomes ranked seventh in the top twenty most popular entertainers of Japan. One day, however, as Kyoko brings Sho his lunch at a company building, she overhears Shotaro complaining about her to his manager, saying that she is a boring and plain girl with no sex appeal that he'd like to cast away. He then proceeds to sweet-talk and flirt with his manager, in stark contrast to the cold and demanding attitude he usually exhibits towards Kyoko. Unlike other heroines in the same situation, Kyoko doesn't shed many tears when she learns that Sho thinks she's only good for housekeeping. Instead, her "Pandora's box" opens and she vows vengeance on Sho. Enraged, Kyoko attempts to attack Sho, but is instantly carried off by security. Sho mockingly tells her that if she wants revenge, she had better become a bigger star than him. And so, Kyoko, vowing revenge, changes her appearance and enters the entertainment business, facing many challenges along the way. Skip Beat! follows Kyoko's journey to climb the showbiz ladder as she meets interesting people, in the hopes of getting revenge on Shotaro, but also in order to get back her sense of compassion that she had lost when her heart was broken by Sho. --wiki
anyhow....i was chain watching this anime and my chain was abruptly shattered because
EPISODE 21 IS MISSING!!
OH THE HUMANITY!
so any links that you use to stream anime would be nice ;P
I strongly recommend this anime, I know it's shoujo and the poster art look DREADFUL but watch the few episodes and you will love it. The art isn't as bad in the anime, and it's really funny. I couldn't stop watching honestly but it's way to short =/ I wish they will make more from the manga.

absolutely correct.
the only bad thing about going from the anime to the manga is, not only that some of the comedy would be ruined, but the artwork is....(i find) pretty unappealing.
I LOVE IT! if you want a girl who is totally determined and can always continue to grow in her strengths, then Kyoko is your girl! she goes from that innocent, loyal girl who cares all about her prince, Sho, then once he dumps her, she turns into a new more refined kyoko ^_^ her life just went from loyal maid, to outstanding actress ;D then there are lots of comedic parts where she has these little "spirits" of herself, because she's so full of revenge against sho XD
When I first watch the first episode of the anime, I thought it was an old anime after someone lend it to me but starting from episode 2 onward,I laugh like I never laugh before and realize it wasn't an old anime when Kyoko changed. Great storyline especially character development and comedy. If there is season 2, it would be on my shopping list.
has anyone saw the anime and read the manga? is it worth carrying on to the manga after watching the anime?
yes, i've watched and read it. it's worth it. it's annoying to read it but worth it. annoying because you have to wait for teh chapters. i'll give you a little spoiler... in the recent chapter someone kisses Kyoko!!! *squee* ^_^
