So after all these years I've finally read One Piece

And how fitting as well. I've caught up where an Arc ends.
I've liked One Piece ever since it came to Shonen Jump in 2002. It's always kept my interest.
A few years later, the dubs came to America. I thought that was a pretty nifty idea until I heard Luffy's voice. Nah, I wasn't one of those 'dubs suck guys' either because I didn't have friends who liked anime as much as I did so I had nothing to compare. I was still relatively young and the voice was just so irritating. So I decided to not watch it and continue to read the manga that was serialized monthly in SJ. I thought it might be a while till the show caught up with the manga anyway.
More years later, I'm reading the manga in SJ I was watching Toonami. Ah... Toonami. One Piece comes on and I'm thinking Oh that's nice I guess I'll watch it since it's Toonami and in that intro they mention Chopper and I'm flipping out. The show finally caught up to the manga and left it in the dust. The Arc was about Alabasta (didn't know it was Alabasta at the time) and Viz is still right before the Grand line. I was immensely disappointed how slow the translation was. I was getting confused and I tried the next few weeks trying to just watch the show to see if I could understand it but I failed. I didn't know how far ahead the anime was. I was very curious how the characters managed to reach that point but there weren't any re-runs and Viz was too slow so I dropped reading it all together.
I finally found a friend who shared similar interests. He tried to encourage me to read it but I had different tastes at the time. I had turned to the Moe scene. I was being active on Fakku and an H-man. I was reading keeping up with the lastest Naruto though but I couldn't bring myself to read One Piece. The amount of chapters was overwhelming and it seems like so much work.
More years later, I decided I might catch up with Bleach since I had dropped it at a previous date. That story for another time. That series didn't nearly have as much chapters as One Piece and I was interested at what was actually happening so I picked it up. It was an easy read as the chapters seems to fly by pretty quickly.
A few months later of catching up with those series. I was constantly on edge waiting for the new chapters to release. I wasn't really watching anime at the time and I'm currently hating myself for it. Was on SomeManga and decided to re-read Toriko just for kicks because I had skimmed some stuff trying to catch up. After I was done with that, I thought to myself C'mon man. You've reading Naruto, Bleach and you've re-read Toriko. You've gotta try One Piece. I said "Well damn. I might as well."
After all the reading, I'm still not sure why people are hating One Piece. It was very enjoyable. The characters are memorable, the storytelling is great and the art-style is just wonderful. I'm glad I finally read it.

I've re-watched the series at least 2-3 times now all the way until now and I'm still loving it. The manga once, unless the anime haven't caught up yet I'll go back and re-read.

So you read it? Good, good. You didnt have to wait a every week for a new chapter when I got into it during the Impel Down arc.

That series is really good. Very full of emotions.
I also referred it to a friend of mine and to my surprise, he read up to the latest chapter in just a few days D:

I like the art. It's quirky. It's funny. And the character's faces have a much wider variety than I would've imagined.

I've read from Enies Lobby to the Ace flashbacks but aside from the sheer stupidity that the characters give off (I've gotten tired of stupid main characters no matter how awesome they may appear to be) and over exaggerated character models, the feeling that One Piece goes ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON really turns me away from it. Now even though it goes on forever, its still interesting than Bleach. But bleach is quicker read and simpler plot.

But bleach is quicker read and simpler plot.i kinda agree with you and im a super one piece fan to the point that i downloaded every episode and chapter and rewatched and reread more than 50 times, during the war and the flashbacks it got kind of dry and i would skip a few chapters but on the bright side, you dont have to worry about crying since it wont end anytime soon.
