Solution to Anime Fillers

I was just thinking anime fillers exist so that the anime adaption does not catch up to the manga. But why don't anime production companies wait for the manga to end first that way we wont have these stupid fillers. If the manga series were completed then the storyline would be set. Im just spreading my idea of why this doesn't happen instead. Most of the filler episodes only discourage viewers from watching take for example Naruto.

Is there a problem with this scenario I dont see any problems at all.

i guess it keeps the attention of the crowd if the produce them simultaniously, if the manga is finished, then the series steadily becomes old news and begins to lose the crowd ex. the manga readers prolly won't watch the anime after seeing great/trifling ending.

also it could be so they present the story through different vectors similtaniously, thus attaining a larger fan base ex. those who read and those who watch, ultimatly leading to increase in sales of DVD's, toys, clothes, etc

but this is just me thinking about it logically =P

That actually makes sense so it would be financially better to produce the anime and manga at the same time to keep interests.

I'd rather them not do fillers so they can allow other shows to use its time slot until they are ready to do another season. They paid for that time slot so I don't see why they can't just rent it to someone else.

In the world of business, it is vital that one jumps at every profitable opportunity, before it is lost to someone else. In addition, the anime production company can choose to wait, but they may not know when the manga they hope to adapt will end.

The worst fillers are usually committed in shounen manga adaptations and hell is more likely to freeze over before those things finish. Besides a series running alongside a popular manga has a chance of drawing out a bigger fanbase. The further apart they are the more likely it becomes for the adaptation to be deemed a disappointment (skillfully adapting a good manga is as difficult as animating a VN and equally rare) due to the insanely high expectations we develop.

My personal preference would be for the series to go on a season_or_so-long hitaus when drawing close to the manga.

You say that fillers discourage viewers, but that is just a perception. I'd love to think that no one would watch Total Drama Island/Action because it is retarded and lame, but that's probably not true. We cannot assume that our personal feelings match those of the majority. Even if a lot of American anime fans hate fillers, that doesn't matter at all to the Japanese companies which are creating these fillers. They only care about how many Japanese people (often, kids) are watching the shows.

Yes fillers are made to keep the longevity of a series going and for financial reasons. But really, if nobody told you a filler was coming up or if it was so obvious, would you really care? Sure its not loretasticly in tune with the series but Im sure everyone would enjoy it a hell lot more (to the point where its not an annoyance) if we just viewed the fillers the same as we did the canon. The solution to fillers in my opinion is to just enjoy them.
