Speculation on Rebuild 2.22/Re-take doujin MASSIVE SPOILERS

Excuse me for not putting this into the Rebuild thread over in anime series. Truth is, it wouldn't get many views there and I would really like people's input. Thanks!

So what I've got on my mind is just one line from Rebuild 2.22. At the end of the movie, Kaoru says "This time, I'll definitely make you happy".

Now, I've read the awesome, awesome doujin that is Evangelion Re-take. In that work, the premise is that Shinji goes back in time from the ending of End of Evangelion with the knowledge of everything that has transpired. With this knowledge, he tries to change things so that everyone on the planet doesn't turn in LCL soup.

Ok, backtrack to what Kaoru said: "This time, I'll definitely make you happy". This time? Could it be possible that this is the same Kaoru from the original series? Could the writers be taking a cue from Re-Take? ZOMFG?!

*cough cough*

So basically this is an alternative universe/continuation of EoE? Or I'm just so hocked up on Orange soda that I'm practically drunk and nothing is making any sense...

I'd be like a kid in a fuckin' candy shop if the original authors would pick up these stories and animate them. On the other hand, I doubt they would leave the story as it is, but this is the way it should be. Interesting stuff, thats for sure.

Oh I see...That makes sense now. It sure as hell would be interesting, and now that I finished watching the movie Karou's words do point in that direction...

Holy crap, Schmitty, thanks for the pic. Makes things hella clearer. I'm still hoping that this is NOT a continuation of the original. I dunno, I just kind of wish that the Rebuild series would be it's own universe, not stuck in depressing original series.
