Anyone started watching this series yet? It's up to episode 3 by BSS and supposedly picking up more fame as it goes along. It's more of a light hearted series dealing in economics/trades with some mystical undertones but it's a nice change of pace from all the action, scifi and harem series lately.
It appears to take place in the high middle ages where the church has established itself as a major presence in many countries. At the center of our story is a fairly successful solo trader by the name of Craft Lawrence and Holo (Horo), a pagan wolf diety of the harvest several centuries old. While visiting one of his regular villages, he finds her sleeping inside his cart at night in the form of a naked 15 year old girl with dog ears and a tail. She tells him of her homeland in the north and how she wishes to return there despite her promises to ensure bountiful harvests for this particular village. Her reasoning is that the people have all but forsaken her nowadays and that she has watched over this land for long enough. She manages to strike a deal with Lawrence to have him take her along. +
Yh.... I have been keeping with this series aswell.
I had a couple of scanlated mangas on the HDD and thought it was pretty cool. I like it so far. As you said, it is quite a nice change from all action and what not.
Ive been reading the manga from Musashi and I agree it is a nice break from all the action and yelling we've been so familiar with. I just hope it wont bring me to tears in the ending like some other ones have.
Just started watching, download it and marathon myself till episode 6. It is really an interesting anime. For me watching this anime is like killing two birds with one stone, it helps me learn about the classic economics (except the wolf god part), since I'm majoring in economics.
Finally an explanation where that cursed 7 Episode had gone. ^^
Had an really hard Time not watching Episode 8 and 9 up till now.
I hate to skip Episodes. Considering she was running around naked a lot of times and it wasnt considered +18, now im really curious whats going on in that Episode.
Spice and Wolf can be considered unique in a sense, since the storyline focuses on themes not usually found in other titles. Of course, furry fans will most likely be attracted by Horo... and her nude state in certain scenes. :D
However, Spice and Wolf is definitely not for everyone. Some may dislike the lengthy dialogue or religious undertones discussed.
Considering how it's an ongoing light novel, I think we're guaranteed to for one of two things:
1) Hollywood ending. Horo reaches north, everyone eats cake, Chloe dies.
2) Second season... and Chloe dies.
