Tears to Tiara is a Japanese Eroge tactical role-playing game developed by Leaf and originally released for the PC on April 28, 2005 in Japan.
An anime adaptation, being produced by White Fox, will be aired from April 2009, incorporating the additional scenario and characters in the PlayStation 3 release. In addition to its Japanese premiere, the anime will be simulcast and receive its English language premiere on Animax Asia on April 6, 2009 at 12:35 am across its networks on Southeast Asia, the same time the series will receive its Japanese premiere at 01:35 am JST. This would be the fastest premiere of an anime outside Japan. On March 20, 2009, it was further confirmed that the series would indeed be simulcast with Japanese audio and English subtitles; being the first of its kind.
What a lameass presentation. :P What can I say, it's probably for the best that I haven't played the game yet. I even had to ask my pain in the ass lil brother if he has the game or not; good thing that he actually has it and I'm definitely borrowing it if ever this series turns out to be really something. Well, judging from its trailer, it sure looks worth a shot; and in the end of that PV... This kinda reminded me a bit of ToA which I honestly hated an awful lot (didn't even bother playing its game either). Hopefully, that wouldn't be the case here.
According to my brother as well, most of the main characters' seiyuu in the game are the same in the anime; along with some dress code/color changes. (I have no idea about that whatsoever) - so blame him, not me if ever. So here's the list of characters with their respective seiyuus: (I've bold-ed the names I'm familiar with)
[size=10]Arawn (Toru Ohkawa) --- The Great Demon King, he was sealed away for 1000 years, then was freed by Riannon. Also chieftain of the Gael Tribe.
Riannon (Yuko Goto) --- The main heroine, she released Arawn from his seal.
Arthur (Makoto Ishii) --- Riannon's brother. He's good at sewing. First Soldier of the Gael Tribe.
Morgan (Mai Nakahara) --- Arthur's subordinate. One of the members of the Gael Tribe.
Octavia (Rie Tanaka) --- A former knight of the Holy Empire, she now serves under Arawn and was a former noble. (She's officially my favorite girl based from the PV, and to even be voiced by R. Tanaka - one of my favorite seiyuus) WoOt ! :D
Ermin (Ai Shimizu) --- A young housework fairy.
Drwc
Limwris (Ami Koshimizu) --- A housework fairy, she loves tea parties, and makes delicious apple pies.
Ogam (Yousuke Akimoto) --- A formidable spellcaster, he is always at Arawns' side and self proclaimed "sword and shield".
Gaius --- Commander of the Holy Empires forces that are invading Albion.
Epona (Kiyomi Asai) --- An elf that is obsessed with money. She runs the item shop in the castle.
Llyr (Kaori Nazuka) --- The water fairy, she is a pessimistic person. Believes that she has very bad luck but manages to turn it around towards the end.
Rathty (Kana Ueda) --- A Miner Elf, good at making weapons and hardware alike.
Taliesin --- A traveling bard, and is also a member of tribe that is related to the Gael Tribe.
Lidia (Miyuki Sawashiro)[/h]
So what else needs to be mentioned... Seems like the anime is only scheduled for 11 episodes. (although I'm doubtful about it)
I also want to remind you guys that this is from the same maker as Utawarerumono, White Album, Comic Party, To Heart 2.
LEAF/AQUAPLUS has never failed at making a GREAT story.
EDIT:
Octaviana in the BOX, still keeps me laughing.
EDIT 2
First episode was Great, it closely follows the story of the game. and it just ended when Arawn showed up. Too much time was spent in the village.
Trying to make this thread a bit more alive.
Let's compare the OP songs
Tears To Tiara (2005)
Tears To Tiara : Kakan no Daichi (2008) "Haunting Sound" by Suara
Tears To Tiara (2009) "Free and Dream" by Suara
So which OP did you like best and why?
In my case
-2008 Haunting Sound by Suara
-2005 by ?
-2009 Free and Dream by Suara
The new one doesn't really blend in with the original atmosphere.

And now let's compare the character design's
Spoiler:
The original one was illustrated by an unknown guy, while the new ones are illustrated by LEAF 4 main illustrator (Nakamura Takeshi, Kawata Hizashi, Misato Mitsumi and Amaduyu Tatsuki)

and just for fun facts.
The first episode wasn't that bad. The Demon God Arawn looked a lot cooler in his 'spirit form'. I'm not so sure I'm going to keep watching this anime. It will definitely have to pick up the pace from now on. :?
Since it was made by the same game producers as Utawarumono, it was no wonder why the fantasy setting and characters reminded me of Utawarerumono. I'm kinda wondering about that general dude... is he going to be the main antagonist or fight then join?
Anyway, what I want to know is how the hell did she wind up in there in the first place? (well, I'd rather figure it out when the time comes...) - though I'm getting quite a bit impatient...  (2 more episodes I presume? ...hopefully...)
and I'll bet you'll love Arawn's reaction, just look at the trailer if you want to know.
Yes, I already did, a couple of weeks back when I created this thread actually.
Well, judging from its trailer, it sure looks worth a shot; and in the end of that PV...
That's the main reason why I easily took notice of Oc(k)tavia and so as to why I'm highly anticipating the episode where that event might/will occur... gawd, I'm dying to see it! :D
ed:
Thanks for the pics kaimax (appreciate it) but frankly, those things aren't enough to satisfy me!!! :x I'd rather see her in anime form/art style than the PC or PS3 VN (art)version. :D
Ep 2 was a bit worse than one for me but I'm still enjoying the show. The complete lack of any light whatsoever, effectively hides any potential flaws
On a chick-oriented note. Dunno who Octavia is yet but she's already giving me a boner.
I mean ...
