So today I read the final chapter of Tenjou Tenge. Still waiting for the english scanlation but if you want to read the raw you can view it here:

[SPOILER WARNING]
Personally, I didn't really like the ending. The series got pretty weird after the Souhaku Past arc and sort of went in a weird direction after that.
The final chapter plot:
Essentially Masataka and Nagi have their epic fight while Aya and Maya travel into Nagi to help him confront Souhaku. Nagi and Masataka take shots at eAch other until Nagi begins to use his demonlike abilities, overtakin Masataka and cutting off his hand. Masataka thinks back to his confession where Aya rejects him saying that even though she likes him she likes Nagi more. Masataka finds his resolve and goes for an all out punch which Nagi catches. Masataka does that special move of his and pushes his ki into Nagi, which Nagi uses to face Souhaku. Nagi pulverizes Souhaku and begins to disintegrate irl. Souhaku makes some silly comment about humans not needing gods.
Some time later, Masataka has a robot hand and Nagi is back to normal. Maya ends up stepping in front of his punch sacrificing herself to save him so he and Aya can be happy. The team bow in front of Maya and Shin and begin practice.
And so everyone lives happily ever after, except Maya.
THE END
For me it seemed kind of like the author pussied out with this ending. The last couple chapters in the series made it seem like there was gonna be something revolutionary between Masataka and Nagi, that one of them would have to make a hard descicion and end the series with something dramatic. But I didnt see that with the final chapter. It simply ended with the "everythings back to the same" ending with one noble sacrifice by Maya (qq). It seems like OhGreat! had something incredible planned but was so rushed that he scratched all of it and just used a 5 minute idea.
Personally, I wouldve rather that Nagi had died. I dont hate Nagi (he canbe annoying at times though) but I think it would have been more powerful if he had bit the dust with Souhaku. Sort of like if Light were to get sparred at the end of Death Note, it would have had way less meaning.
But in the end, Tenjou Tenge was a good fighting series. I think it was unique and entertaining with good action and ecchi. I wouldve liked to have seen more of what the story started off as rather than the supernatural past present future stories but it was still a good read.
What do you people think.
