Yeah, Ah! My Goddess, is pretty long... but its nothing compared to Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari KÅen Mae Hashutsujo or just Kochikame, its September 1976 – ongoing. Its up in a whopping 160 volumes. Thats just crazy!!!

Man, I thought Hajime no Ippo was the longest running manga with 85 volumes+... a whopping 160 volumes, with Golgo 13 coming in at 148 volumes.

If we are talking about timeframe, wikipedia states that the manga of Doraemon ran from 1969 to 1996. It appears that there are plenty of long running manga series.
However, a long running series may not necessarily mean that it has the most number of chapters and vice versa.
