The Most Despicable Anime Characters

I read a little article called "Hey, Answerman!" on ANN the other day, and there was a question to readers asking, "Name the most obnoxious, irritating, or otherwise downright dislikable anime hero (or heroine), and tell us why. Protagonists only - no villains or supporting cast members."

Having read this thread, I thought, "Easy. Makoto from School Days." The Answerman said roughly 95% of responses were the same. It was certainly Makoto. How could anyone not hate him?

Then, it turns out it was some character from Fushigi Yugi. I'm not sure who because I've never seen or read Fushigi Yugi, but either someone named Tamahome or Miaka.

Well, to be honest, we ALL saw Makoto as a despicable character coming from a million miles away.

I'm surprised that the two main characters of Fushigi Yugi are vilified as annoying characters... I figure Yui Hongo would be more of a despicable character. I'm going to read Fushigi Yugi... when I get the chance this winter break.

Agreeing with everyone else, I must say Makoto myself. Unlike most other harem anime leads, he took it way too far.

Shinji is also a good one, mainly because he's a whiny little bitch to the very end.

Having watched Higurashi a couple of months ago, Takano Miyo is definitely my third choice. Her motives and downright coldheartedness put me right off.

Dude, I so totally agree. I go by Shinsen-subs for Tales of the Abyss, and by gawd Luke pisses the hell out of me - "Van-sensei~" my ass. I did like it when everyone on board the ship near the end of episode 8 just left him standing there to mope. Zama miro! Who knows how bad his attitude gets in episodes 9 and 10.

As for Yoshito, I didn't really "hate" him per se, but he was a player who you had to hate. Good thing Maho's so honest with her feelings. I hated the part when it was Koyuki and that childhood friend of his were in the pool with Maho watching them. Yoshito got it in the end though. And so I say again, "Zama miro!" Rawr.

I completely forgot about that... and yea, I remember that made me pretty damn mad too.

Hm... I've noticed a lot of heat over this School days issue. I suppose I'll post my thoughts on the matter.

The whole thing starts off with the male lead (who instead of being mentioned will be called 'Dumbass #1) having a crush on this girl on the train. Enter the female lead ('Dumbass #2') offers to set the two of them. And so thanks to Dumbass #2's efforts, Dumbass #1 got his dream girl.

And it should've fuckin ended there. But because of Dumbass #2, it doesn't. From my knowledge it was Dumbass #2 offering to let Dumbass #1 practice his 'special moves' with her. And I can already see what' wrong with that.

1. If dumbass #1 wants to practice, he can do that with his girlfriend.

2. The fact that Dumbass #2 would even offer such a thing implies that she's not really out to so much help Dumbass #1, but seduce him. If she wants to improve his sexual ability, she should just offer advice and nothing more.

I'm not sure how this started, but other girls started wanting a piece of Dumbass #1's cock-meat sandwich and so Dumbass #1 (whose balls and brain switched places) starts doing the no-pants-dance with various girls and breaking their hearts. Now this is what I'll say, casual sex is fine and good, but there's two problems with what Dumbass #1 did.

1.He's in a relationship, so for him to even be doing that is a no-no. When they all started coming to him, Dumbass #1 should've just said 'Sorry, I have a girlfriend' and left it at that. Besides, his girlfriend has great assets so why is he even doing that?!

2. Even if he was single, I doubt any of those girls was just out for casual sex. So for him to be banging and leaving them is just fucked up. If he wants casual sex, he should look for other girls looking for casual sex.

And of course if we can't trust Dumbass #1 not to do something stupid the first time, why should we trust him not to do something stupid a second time. Somewhere down the line Dumbass #2 gets 'pregnant' with Dumbass #1's kid. But from what I've seen, it's too early to tell by looking at her and from what I've heard the method she used to check herself was incorrect.

But instead of accessing the situation, Dumbass #1 decides he's not gonna deal with the pregnancy issue and just go back to the girl as if nothing happened. This is what I don't like about that:

If Dumbass #2 is pregnant with Dumbass #1's kid, then Dumbass #1 should take responsibility. It doesn't matter if Dumbass #1 is with someone else, the least he could do is take care of the kid he helped bring life too.

What Either or both Dumbass #1 and Dumbass #2 should've done was get together with Dumbass #1's girlfriend and work out the issue. But that's not what we get is it? What we get is Dumbass #1 trying to act as if his actions have no future consequences and Dumbass #2 trying to force Dumbass #1 back to her with a kid whose very existence is questionable.

Of course we all know what happens in the end, so I'll skip reviewing it.

In the end Dumbas #1's a headless corpse, Dumbass #2 got dissected like a science project and Dumbass #1 leaves a bunch of heart broken girls in his wake. To be honest, despite what Dumbass #1 did, I think to kill him, especially the way his girlfriend did was excessive. This is what should've happened to him.



As for Dumbass #2, again I think her punishment was excessive, but you could say she started this little chain of events -_-;

In the end, I don't really hate Dumbass #1 because many at his age would do what he did. He's just an idiot teenager who let himself drown in the pleasures of being lusted after by others. But at the same time his actions and attitude about them makes me unsympathetic.

If you want a shorter version, it goes like this: If I could save Dumbass #1, I probably would, but only on the extremely off chance that I happen to be on the scene at the time. And afterward I'd give him a swift kick in the nuts to insure he doesn't use his 'tool' again in the near future. If not, then I'd just call the cops, knowing he'll be either dead or so fucked up he'd wish he died by the time the cops get to'em.

As for Dumbass #2, the same, except I'd punch her in the gut (since a kick to the groin would be far less effective) instead.

So to finally summarize the situation. I'm not gonna cast blame or despise anyone, because in a way, EVERYONE INVOLVED FUCKED UP
